notes
Merge old world tango aesthetics with a sinuous texture of jazz, flamenco and classical music and you have the immediately distinctive sound of Tango Lorca. Formed in 1999, this fiery quintet has created a fresh and continually growing body of original compositions and arrangements equally suited for the dance hall or the concert stage. While evoking an undoubtedly Argentine sentiment with classics from the "Golden Age", they also create new, innovative works with a timeless sense of beauty. Tango Lorca plays their music with a deep understanding of tradition as well as an obsessive desire to evolve the art form to new plateaus.

Great CD
author: juliaSince arriving in the mail, this CD has spent most of its time in the CD player rather than on the shelf...hopefully we don't wear it out.
Impressive!
author: GuidoLots of groups are inspired by Piazzolla's legacy. But Tango Lorca not only plays those so-called modern tango but is also able to renew the classical tango pieces. All in a very impressive way.
Wonderful!!!!!!!
author: Tango Lorca: Mujer SolaIf you love Tango, you will love this cd!!!!!! The first time I heard this version of Palomita Blanca (and Paloma Negra), I **knew** I had to buy this cd for my collection. Their interpretation of Palomita Blanca is my favorite tango and the whole cd is wonderful!!!! And yes, you CAN dance to it. And fall in love with the tango music and dance all over again. Every time!
Compelling and precise, just as the Tango is...
author: wordWrightRecomended to me by an 18 year old neice, I listened with trepidation... Surprize! This band excels at carrying you through the Tango, kicking and screaming for more. The musicians are more than well rehearsed, they are fingers in a gloved hand of a surgeon. The music paints an audio portrait of the passion and angst Tango is.
New but not too "modern". Nice sound.
author: Chris X.This CD is definitely not going to be confused with a recording from the 50's. First of all, for tango, the sound quality is great. But this CD does not deviate into weird annoying stuff that is typical of a lot of modern tango music. I initially thought that this CD could be worked into my milonga, but I'm not so sure it's great dance music. Some of it surely is not. But I've enjoyed listening to it.
Suprising and delightful
author: Rick LightburnOne of the highlights from this album -- and there are many -- it the title tune. To hear Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman" as a tango, much less to play it as one, is a feat of first-rate musicianship. The other tunes are as good, but "Mujer Sola" possesses imagination.

Unbelievable!!!!!!
author: FErnando MArzanWith TAngo Lorca I rediscovered Tango. It made me travel around the surfaces of all heavens. Congratulations, Tango Lorca, with you Tango will never die.
Superb!
author: TerriVery high quality music in general, and tango in particular. It's a joy to listen to (over and over again!), and a real pleasure to dance to as well!
Passionate and addictive
author: Patricia MuscariGreat for tango...innovative and varied.
Exciting and Surprising Tango
author: Liz BakoylisCreated for me a full spectrum of emotion and movement. All the "players" are supurbly talented. Nathan Granner's Vuelvo al Sur brought me to my knees in tears. A fantastic CD!!
Tangamente!
author: Dr. Kenneth SchafermeyerAlthough far from an expert on Argentine Tango, I found Tango Lorca's "Mujer Sola" done more professionally and cleaner than many of the A/T CD's one can procure from the internet . The music is pleasantly and genuinely danceable , with the sadness and sensuality Argentine Tango typifies. I hope Tango Lorca continues to play ensemble and produce additional inspiring Argentine Tango CD's that would bring so much joy. Congratulations !
This cd rocks (read the full review)
author: Bill WeisnerThe cd represents the epitome of a cross mojonization of different styles. Wearing tango proudly on its sleeve, Tango Lorca integrate other disparate styles into the world of tango. This effect is quite resounding, one that I would equate to flying by one's own volition. Quite an amazing release.
fantastic

Imagine Domingo suddenly joining a tango band ...
author: David GurrEverything about this contemporary tango band is worth owning, but Track 16 of Sur is astonishing. I was reading a book with CD in background -- to check that there were no recorded glitches -- and put down my bio of Rex Harrison to turn up the volume. The singer on credits is Nathan Granner. Imagine Domingo suddenly joining a tango band, unannounced. Electrifying.

great arrangements, superb interpretation, from deepest sadness to joyful milonga -- this cd captures the soul of tango.
great album have heard none better and i have heard a lot of Tango music. would buy more.
This CD leaves you no choice but to find a partner and dance Tango.
author: Ramona KirschNow living in Vienna, listening to Tango Lorca made me long for those wonderful nights at Fedoras in KC-- the ethereal violin, guitar being stroked with agile fingers, piano keys flowing effortlessly, the accordian gently swaying all of us, the bass bringing out the root of the chord, and of course the sensual vocals that left us no choice but to cleave to one another and dance! What a gem in the midwest this Tango band is!
Marvelous
author: Carlos GaribaldiA truly marvelous album. If only there were such a group in my city. Not only great for dancing, but a joy to sit and listen to, as well. What a treat.
