notes

TEAM ROCKIT have turned a corner musically while becoming more marketing savvy leading up to their 4th release, “The Lowest Point In Rock & Roll History” (due out September 2006). After promoting their 3rd release, “Duck Duck Goose” for the past two years while touring overseas twice in Germany, TEAM ROCKIT are now “taking their time” on this new recording to make sure all the pieces are in place before the release. A show on 6/30/06 with Marty Casey & Lovehammers (now a true “national act” with CBS exposure) kicks off a line-up of big summer shows and festival appearances leading up to the release.

The new record was mixed by Todd Bowie (artist on Machine Records, studio and technical work for Beck and Joe Walsh). TEAM ROCKIT have also enlisted the engineering skills of Dan Glomski (Metro Mobile - the most used mobile sound recording company for just about every major live recording in Chicago). The painstaking work on the record throughout this past winter at their own Electric Lady Lamp Studios and enlisting the help of two engineers was just one part of the monster that will become “The Lowest Point In Rock N’ Roll History.”

TEAM ROCKIT also took on the task of making not one, but TWO videos for this upcoming release and they will be utilized in a big way this summer. Director Brian Poszgai returns by completing a live performance/Brady Bunch-like video for the single “Something I Said.”

Also, two exciting new talents in the music video world (Mark McCutcheon and Jim Distasio from On the Mark Productions) have poured hours, weeks, and months into the video production for the lead track “Know What I Mean.” The video was shot for two days straight on a green screen at longtime Chicago staple JBTV Studios. The directors then began adding layers of illustration that transports the band into a comic book world. “We’ve never seen someone put so much detail into making a video,” commented bass player Mark Zalewski.

After seeing the finished product and knowing how much publicity their first video for the song “She Wants Us To Stay” enabled the band to receive, TEAM ROCKIT are utilizing the video for “Know What I Mean” as a major promotional tool. Fans will be able to own the two videos as part of the enhanced portion of the CD when the album is released on 9/26/06. In the meantime, TEAM ROCKIT will be hosting the video on their site and will be distributing thousands of promotional CDs with the video for fans to find an embedded secret promotional code to receive “free stuff” (possibly exclusive downloads? Team Rockit swag? Cash prizes?) Drummer Matt Friscia, who also has played with indie rockers POSTER CHILDREN explains, “We’re dying to have old and new fans see this video. It’s amazing what Mark and Jim have done, so we’ve created this little buried treasure that involves finding something within specific frames of the video.”
