notes
the technoillogical myopia stands as an example of what can be achieved from a combination of compromise and some auto-production premises: between all hands laboring this project all composition, arranging, recording, programming, mixing, producing, photographing, filming, designing, editing and promoting takes place.
exploring the threshold between rock and electronica
magma EP is the culmination of three years of continuous evolvement of their distinctive sound and vision. It walks around a quite-infrequent-to-find crossroad where artistic experimentation and commercial viability both meet.
It has been devised and recorded between london and brighton and polished at greenhouse studios (iceland).

author: BBC south live (Phil Jackson)The Technoillogical Myopia exist between the fragile musings of a warped mind and the tender touch of an angel. Other-worldly, born of the subconscious mind interjected with rock guitars, stonking kit and jagged vocals they are a breed apart from our usual Sunday offerings. Well you can't get much of a handle on what they do. And good thing that you can still be surprised when there are more bands about than pebbles on Brighton beach. I was trying to push them in the direction of collaborating on a film project somehow. Their music is fairly extreme, not for the musically entrenched and requires an open mind
'Magma' is a skillful balance between experimentation and clarity.
author: Leonard's LairWith a manifesto even more unwieldy than their name, The Technoillogical Myopia claim that their EP "suppurates eclecticism and imbibes from the musical flowing of our time". Thankfully a degree in English Language is not necessary to enjoy their dark, electronic music which - although always lyrically adventurous - is easier to listen to than you might expect. The first three tracks form a basis of the mood which is unsettling and tense but never oppressive. However, the final three tracks are far more direct thanks to Ana's strong vocal performance and a more conventional approach to song structure; 'Mantra' and 'War' deliciously embracing modern goth dramatics. Ultimately, 'Magma' is a skillful balance between experimentation and clarity.
each song sounds as a new exploration!
author: side-line music magazineThe name of this British project is as complex as their sound. TM composes a mix of electronics and rock, which in the opening song entitled “Letter” sounds like the offspring between Ladytron and Portishead. The influence of Portishead is probably the only one that comes back on regular basis, but the songs are more bombastic and even chaotic. The “Autoexit” also evokes distant wave influences, but each song sounds as a new exploration!

the jump between postrock and mellow sing-and-songwriter band sound is perfectly
author: earlabsthis is a very nice release, the track nr. 4 - "mantra" is my favorite one. the starting with "letter" is very diagonally guitarmusic merged with the wonderful female voices of ANA. somewhere back in the tunnel... she sings songs of freedom. the jump between postrock and mellow sing-and-songwriter band sound is perfectly made! nice changes in songs like "war". this album you will like more and more after listening to it several times!
... by three guys who always look for the perfection in what they do.
author: Emanuele ErranteThis is a really interesting release, by three guys who always look for the perfection in what they do. With the quality and the intelligence of their music, you will experience a see-saw of emotions that will go from the more intimate feelings to the truer happiness.
This odd, magical music sounds as if it has been piped in from another world
author: Chris ShevlinThis odd, magical music sounds as if it has been piped in from another world, from beyond the forests, beyond the clouds and the ice. Many of the songs feel like prayers or incantations, as though a love spell were being cast. The scratchy warmth of Ana’s voice, her expressiveness, whether whispering, intimate, little-girlish or raised in full-throated belting roar, catches you and carries you along, through the lovely sounds. The album was recorded in a remote studio in Iceland, and you can hear the place in the music: ancient, fragile and ghostly. It is music of the snow, like Sigur Ros or Beth Gibbons. The best description of this music, and the best accompaniment to it, are the images and photographs on the band’s website (thetechnoillogicalmyopia.com). These cold, spare, beautiful landscapes reflect the band’s sound perfectly: hidden, glimpsed through fogged windows, through ice, taken eerily out of context, with light echoing through them. There is a teasing quality to them, a kind of remote playfulness, as in a puzzle or a poem. Robert Graves said that he tested poetry by reciting it to himself as he shaved: if his bristles stood on end, he knew he had a true poem. The Technoillogical Myopia pass that test.
