notes
"Throughout Promise Street, Tiberio's exquisite saxophone sound acts as each tracks's /vocal/ presence, exuding
pure emotion and allowing forsome imaginative improv along the way. Hear these guys!" Michelle Picardo, Freetime Magazine, Rochester, NY
This band takes the traditional jazz organ combo in more contemporary directions. Saxophonist and leader Bill Tiberio is supported by a wonderful group dynamic comprised of organist Gerry Youngman, guitarist Melvin Henderson, and drummer Jared Schonig. All are veteran jazz players who are carving some unique directions in this groove-oriented setting. Inspired and fluid playing without the "smooth" label.
On Promise Street the group goes deeper into the funky progressive jazz world. With challenging riffs, funky grooves, extended improvisations, and inspired arrangements, this recording almost seems to say, with
playful funkiness, "dig this"!

Seriously sweet, soulful and sensuous
author: Tracy Kroft-SymondsFrom their own beautiful compositions like In My Life, and the title cut, Promise Street, to skillful covers of Herbie Hancock's Cantaloupe Island and David Sanborn's Lisa to which they add their own flavor, this CD will capture you. They save the best for last, though, with the tune, Why Don't You Ask. This song is the epitome of spiritual, sensual, soulful jazz--a tune that speaks to me in a different way every time I hear it. Sweetness.

smooth sound with edge
when you cant get to a club to hear some awesome live jazz....
author: jen endsleyBill Tiberio's new cd gives listeners of today's jazz all they want. It's hard not to have your head nodding or your toe tapping while listening! Cd starts off with exciting rhythms in sax, keyboards and drums, followed by a few songs with a more romantic feel, as in their original In My Life. No vocals neccesary, just great music!
