Tom and Doug are legends of wildly bizarre, ironic comedic music. They play in almost every style, and are rightly praised for their legs. Their jazz version of Twisted Sister's classic "We're Not Gonna Take it" closed Dee Snider's radio show for years.

notes

Thomas P. is a mild-mannered computer programmer in Princeton, NJ. Doug Gentile is a less-mannered professor at a major midwestern university.

They met when Doug was recruited to sing backup vocals for Tom on "Popeye the Sailor Man" at an open-stage in Buffalo, NY in 1985. Not content to rest on the laurels accompanying that uncontested triumph, they decided that they might sound even better if they learned to play instruments. The first song they ever wrote together was titled "God Doesn't Want Your Money."

In 1986 they helped to form a band, Norm and the Standard Deviates, and toured Western New York all the way from their house across town to Eric's Mom's house. Forced to leave, they migrated to New Jersey, where they became a regular feature at the Good Time Charley's Open Stage. They performed with several talented players there, and soon learned the power of envy.

Doug continued his nomadic ways, moving to Champaign, Illinois, Minneapolis, Minnsota, and Ames, Iowa. Tom stayed where he was and attempted to stagnate. Unfortunately, he hadn't a talent for it, so he began to host Cafe Improv, a stage and cable show for a wide range of artists.

Over the years, Tom & Doug released a series of 4 albums together, all of which sold out and are currently out of print. However, to celebrate their 19th anniversary of writing, performing, and recording music together, they released Tom & Doug: Volume 1 - Outstanding in Their Field - The 19th Anniversary Album on Dec 31, 2004. Volume 2 - Love Songs will be available in Spring 2005.
