Tom Knight is a singer, songwriter, puppeteer and band-leader based in the Ithaca, NY area. You can see him with Tom Knight Puppets, Tom Knight & the Blue Moon swing band, or singing in coffeehouse concerts.

He has been performing regularly since 1986, and became a professional in 1992. With the help of many area musicians, he has produced 7 recordings, including "Peanut Butter and Jelly's Greatest Hits," "The Library Boogie," and "The Classroom Boogie!"

Tom Knight Puppets is a dynamic collection of songs and skits for all ages with lots of participation. Tom performs for schools, libraries, pre-schools, fund-raisers, community events and festivals.

    I already love Tom Knight's music. I couldn't decide which CD to buy as a gift for my nieces (who live in Colorado and have never heard of Tom Knight -- Eeek) So I ordered 3 of them! They will make great Christmas gifts.

    I have to admit I like Classroom Boogie a teeny bit better...but The Elephant's Lullaby is my all time favorite Tom song. Perfect for my daughters who won't go to sleep! I highly recommend the CD, and offer my sympathies to those of you who have never seen Tom put on his solar system hat and give it a spin. How he sings that song at his shows without falling over I will never know!

    On his fourth album, Tom Knight presents 13 original songs in an assortment of musical styles, including ragtime/boogie, swing, 60’s style rock, R&B, Western Swing, jazz, and folk-style lullabies. His deep, mellow voice is accompanied by a children’s chorus and a variety of beautifully played instruments such as acoustic guitar, fiddle, tambourine, dancing shoes, marimba, keyboard, tenor sax, trumpet, trombone, cello, violin, and banjo. In the title song, all the library books dance the “Library Boogie” at night. Goldilocks and the Three Bears make an appearance in “Just Right.” Sally tames a mean, destructive dragon in “Sally and the Dragon.” “Two Moms” discusses different kinds of families. “Bally Roo” and “The Elephant’s Lullaby” are both lullabies. Vegetables are extolled in “Rabbit Habit.” “Honeybee” gives basic information about bees… Knight’s excellent album will be a welcome addition to any library’s music collection. – Beverly Bixler, San Antonio Public Library, TX

    It’s been far too long since Tom Knight has released a children’s recording. He hasn’t lost his touch; The Library Boogie has all the whimsy and sensitivity of his former works, but he’s grown in sophistication and style. They all sound, to quote the title of one tune, 'Just Right.' Other songs include the title cut, in which books come out and dance all night: Children will enjoy hearing the names of favorite stories in this one. There are positive, reassuring tunes about divorce and stepfamilies, educational songs about the solar system and honeybees, and an exquisitely sweet fantasy called "Bally Roo." A high percentage of the numbers are top-notch. It’s never preachy but it offers both lullabies and sophisticated tunes like "Invisible Girl."
