Psych pop that mixes classic pop songwriting, modern electronic experimentation and 60's-era British psychedelia.

notes

ALL OUR GOLDEN TOMORROWS is UHF's fourth full-length album, and it solidifies the songcraft and sonic landscapes the Portland psych-pop quartet began exploring on 2002's critically acclaimed IF IT WAS EASY. That previous album saw solid radio airplay from Seattle's KEXP to Los Angeles' KCRW, was heard by millions on the finale of NBC's "Providence" and was featured on WB's "One Tree Hill". Produced by Gregg Williams (Dandy Warhols, Sheryl Crow), IF IT WAS EASY found UHF defining their swirling pop sound.

Now, with ALL OUR GOLDEN TOMORROWS , UHF has clearly built upon their past success, creating an emotionally charged album full of catchy psychedelic pop with a depth that demands repeat listening. ALL OUR GOLDEN TOMORROWS is also darker, moodier and at times more aggressive than the band's previous work-these eleven tracks are a unique blend of the catchy psych-pop of the British 60's and the modern electronic mood rock of bands like Doves, Secret Machines, Flaming Lips and The Soundtrack of Our Lives.

Thematically, this is an album about the prisons of modern life: dehumanization, mechanization, alienation and numbness, and the only apparent escape routes: drugs, monetary success, the possibility of love. From the album's electrifying opener "Disconnect" (an ardent plea for escape from robotic conformity and the band's most perfect pop single to date) to the melancholy of "Revolving Door", to the intense psychedelia of "The Behemoth", through the album's conclusion, it's a wild ride. ALL OUR GOLDEN TOMORROWS is a psychedelic pop masterpiece, one that pushes the envelope of the band's previous efforts while exploring unfamiliar territory and conquering it with perfection. UHF has created a timeless record, one you shouldn't pass up.

Gloriously crunchy, UHF has way of setting the bar right from the downbeat. There's no bullshitting around the point, no affectations and personas taken on just for the sake of being cute or catchy or popular- there's just a straight-up, all-out direction and drive to their songs that leaves little to say except, "damn!". With veins of psych-rock running through textures varying from sonic and expansive pop-informed writing to well-contained and efficient on-the-money rock'n'roll, these four lads give Portland, Oregon something more to be proud of.
