  • The CD captures the essence of Jerry's act.
    author: Emilio Fandino

This CD is right on the money! My family and I have heard it dozens of times in three days. One of the finest moments: "Harlem Nocturne". Jerry and the band convey the feel, intensity, and soulfullness of this tune 110%! It makes me feel like I'm in a Mickey Spillane novel! The mix of tunes on this CD is really good. It's serious stuff without being unduly esoteric and mainstream enough without being "schmaltzy". Most importantly, the CD captures the essence of Jerry's act. He connects with the audience, engages them, and, unlike many self-absorbed artists, does not play only for the "jazz intellectuals". Jerry respects his audience, entertains them, and very often, educates them about this most American of art forms.
