Wax (Nde Ndifonka) has come a long way from a shy kid, to one of Africa's top performers and songwriters.

He was only nine when he penned his first song: Faraway Child. A decade later, the music of the song earned him runner-up prize in the state sponsored Pay-your-tax Song competition in Cameroon.

It kicked off when veteran producer, Neill Solomon invited Wax to record a song with fabulous Zulu crooner, Shaluza Max. Following the success of the single, Wax was invited to perform at Awesome Africa Festival. There he met, and was thrilled by the inspirational bassist Gito Baloi of Tananas fame, who encouraged him to become a recording artist.

At age 23, Wax performed a remarkable feat. Within a year of starting to sing, and practising music professionally, he recorded Ali Gets His Arms, a 14-track album that summarises the effervescent personality of this musical maestro.

The entire album is a real thriller. Wax’ unique guitar style sets him apart and his distinctness remains evident even as he explores different genres. His themes are captivating and the music enigmatically beautiful.
