A dynamic and powerful vocalist, her seductive style ranges from sweet innocence to hard-hitting, stomp your backside attitude as she wraps herself around a song.

notes

Wendy Lee is a long-time seasoned singer, songwriter and musician. Singing began early in life, at around eighteen months old, according to her mother. By the time she started Kindergarten, her teacher, a music major, told Wendy s parents that she had perfect pitch . That, coupled with the fact that Wendy was not shy about getting up in front of people, gave her a head start in the entertainment world.

Both of Wendy s parents are multi-talented people who have always been active in their crafts. This gave her the chance to develop and explore her own abilities at an early age. Throughout her growing up years she dabbled fairly seriously in many forms of art, but settled finally, in music.

At fifteen years of age, her band, The Mosettes , performed around her hometown region, winning music contests and awards. The band was comprised of two guitars, and four part harmonies, with Wendy singing lead. This continued until she left for college.

At twenty-two, Wendy became a professional musician, performing as lead singer and guitarist in a country-rock band, The Golden Fleece . They performed regularly in the clubs around Danbury, Connecticut, until she decided to get back to roots , and go West. At this time, she started performing solo, and the name, Wendy Lee , was born..

Stopping in Utah, turned out to be a one and a half year sentence, which she refers to as her growing up experience . It was very challenging, as a single female, to play Salt Lake City, at the time, and even more challenging, getting paid!! The camaraderie of the established musicians there, she found to be priceless, however. Many hours passed in coffee shops after the gigs were over, swapping pearls of laughter and wisdom. This, compiled with all the vast experience of these road musicians, turned out to be one of the most valuable periods of Wendy s life. What a treat!

Belmont Agency brought Wendy Lee to the Pacific Northwest just before Christmas of 1972. Her first gig, a restaurant on Lake Union, made it easy for her to fall in love with the moody and beautiful area. The ever-changing weather, the dramatic coastline and the warm Seattle style were enough to convince her that this was home. Finding that it was a Mecca for all types of artists, was not surprising. The surroundings inspired her writing and playing. Wendy Lee played constantly, on a nightly basis around the Metropolitan area for the next year. She then formed an alliance with a couple of the large hotel chains through the Belmont Agency and the Merkovitch Agency, consecutively. The Best Western Hotels and The Holliday Inns were very accommodating and comfortable places to live in and entertain. This became her way of life for two years. The challenge was to entertain the convention or group that was unwinding in the lounge that particular night!

A six-month stint at PSA s Islandia Hotel on Mission Bay, in San Diego, was not unlike a paid vacation. Here she had several opportunities to open for name acts that were appearing in the San Diego area. Concert work has always been Wendy s first choice.

Finally, her travels brought her back to Seattle, where she ran into an old high school acquaintance, and together, they formed a duo, Wendy Lee and Michael . Capitalizing on their unique vocal harmonies, they started performing their own material. Wendy Lee s strong, rich vocals and guitar playing, along with the magic of Michael s extensively creative keyboard style and tight harmonies, made them a favorite in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Wendy was especially happy not to be traveling! Their union lasted for three years, playing six nights a week, for almost every week!

Wendy has continued to write and perform her material. In 1966 she produced her first CD of original material. The project entitled, See Me Again , can be purchased on her website, Wendy-Lee.com. This 16 song CD is a full-production effort in country music. The all-original effort features the work of excellent musicians and Wendy Lee s polished, distinctive vocals.

While constantly attending jams around the greater Seattle area, and tending her window treatments business, she has continued to develop new skills and sharpen her writing techniques. She believes strongly in her own growth, and constantly listens for new opportunities. Not wishing to get stuck in a bag, she has just completed her newest CD, This Time . It is a presentation of original adult contemporary music done in a bluesy, rock style that is infectious. The response has so far, been overwhelming. It seems to be a favorite of all who listen, and receives immediate raves! It combines snippets of retro sounds from the last four decades with a very updated contemporary blues-rock approach. The feeling is comfortably familiar, and at the same time, completely innovative! The musicianship is professionally impeccable, with long earned instinctive style and taste. Once again, Wendy capitalizes on her ability at creative writing, and outstanding vocals and harmonies. You will relate !

THIS TIME will not let you down, and is a must in your music collection. Your friends will ask you where you got it!

Wendy Lee and her band, Wendy Lee and Company , are performing around the Seattle area. Last summer they played The Gorge in George, Washington, as well as several of the Northwest summer festivals. For a schedule of events, check out her personal website, wendy-lee.com..
