  • A work of art. The originals blow the covers away.
    author: Eric Altman

David Bowie is good company to strive for and in 'Janine' Simon and the crew of XUK not only blow the original away, but in honest retrospective show that the cover is one of the weakest tracks on the first 'side' of the album. Not because it is in itself weak, but because the original works with telling lyrics written by Simon Holden, are that much more powerful and dynamic than might be expected in a DIY effort. The music itself, speaking of dynamic, makes you believe in classical string instruments again if you've been losing faith. Violas are made to soar in rock arrangements in a refreshing revealing of the player's emotions and love for what they do... and that is really what is at the heart of this double album's success (and I do call it a blazing success)... not for a moment do you believe that any less then their best and more driven effort was poured into each and every song. With stand outs like "Unzip" and "New Way" opening the first side, songs that should soon be playing on college radio stations across the country, and national/local radio stations a few days later. Then there are songs like "Crashing in a Jet", quirky songs that still despite their lyrics that almost dare the listener to fall out of the trance caused by the in depth lyrics of all the songs up to that point... then you really listen to the song and realize that it's point is just as valid and 'important' to XUK as any other. It is important, too. This album needs a label, indy or otherwise. This album needs to be heard by the masses, so fans... spread the word.

  • What are you waiting for?
    author: Alex!

Love hits isn't your typical romantic mush, the songs are edgy and read on more than one level. The lyrics are amazing and the one cover--Wild World is a great rendition of Cat Stevens. Buy it today, you won't regret it!

XUK is a band of talented musicians. Great vocals from the melancholic poetry of Crashing in a Jet to the energetic rhythm of Unzip. Nice rendition of Wild World. Awesome sound!

I bought my copy a couple of weeks ago and its been none stop listening ever since. The celtic influenced arrangements with the story telling lyrics make this cd an excellent purchase. Every track has something to enjoy. The standout track has to be, JAGUAR, the melody has a richness to it, while the story tells it all, EXCELLENT. Don't hesitate; buy this CD NOW!!

  • XUK's new album has your head nodding all day long!
author: Jack (Simon's Nephew, Robin's Cousin, Everyone's Friend)

What a fantastic compilation of triumphant tunes, each more catchy than the next! Tracks to look out for are New Way (awesome!) and the revamped XUK original, Jaguar! With some fantastic vocals, shaking bass lines and incredible viola playing in parts, the whole act comes together to produce a well worked, catchy piece of brilliance.

  • Simply Good Stuff!

Perhaps I'm not gifted with the best musical vocabulary, so I will do my best to describe why I liked this album so much. The music is catchy and a pleasure to listen to, but what makes it special is that it seems to come from deep in the artists heart -- so it's packed with an emotional charge that blasts through and really touched me. This unique musical style is wonderful, and I hope to hear more of it. If I had to sum it up in one word... the music is HONEST.

  • XUK kick ass... got a problem? Then go listen to J.Lo.

Ok, this CD kicks major ass. Mainly because... it kicks ass. If you don't like it you have some serious issues and I don't really care 'cause you're obviously an idiot. Because this CD is... awesome. Sure, it could've used a hell of a lot more rockin' (like on track two of the first CD) hell yeah, and a little less, what is that? A viola? Yeah. But it's still like the best CD of... who cares, it's just good. Besides, Simon is sexy. ;) God, they're going to kill me for this review. It's great. Go away now.

  • It really did take 2 cds.
    author: Edith

This album is amazing. It's the perfect blend of pure & sexy, calm & violent, mellow & upbeat. With an outstanding variety of songs (compare the guitar-driven 'Normal' with the beautifully melodic 'Song For Marriah'), & an unbelievable mix of talent (clear, clean vocals backed perfectly by smooth guitar, pounding drums, & the always sultry viola), this album would not have been the same if the cds had been released seperately. Love hits... is the one indie album every rock fan should own.
