notes
Called "a one man pop/rock band" by Borders Books, Johnny Yankoviak with his piano based, down to earth, heart of the matter music, is Northern Virginia's best selling singer/songwriter. Favourably compared to Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, and Train, Johnny's music combines elements of rock, pop, jazz, and funk, that is both soulful, and contemporary. In the process, he has outsold every major label artist in his small hometown of Manassas, Virginia.
Johnny Yankoviak, a lifelong musician, began playing the drums at age 7. As a member of a local marching band, The Patriots of Northern Virginia, he performed in The Kentucky Derby, The Indy. 500, The Orange and Cotton Bowl Parades, The World's Fair, and in front of four U.S. presidents. In middle school he picked up the keyboards, and won a series of talent shows.
He was voted "most talented" in high school, and also made All County Band and All Region Orchestra. In the mid 80's, he appeared on the local compilation album "Shades of the Future" which sold out, and was awarded a scholorship to attend Shenandoah Conservatory of Music. Two years later, he released the Washington Redskin song "The 'Skins Are Going to The Super Bowl", which also sold out, and was aired on MTV. He also performed on The Jerry Lewis Telethon, and recorded numerous jingles for local radio stations.
In 1990, Johnny released his debut album, which had two pressings, and was featured on a local cable show. During the mid 90's, he wrote and recorded various singles, and in 1996/97 had a small role in the Warner Brothers film "Contact". "long time coming" was produced by Johnny Yankoviak, exectutive producer was John Donovan, and was originally released in Spring 2000.
Currently performing in a Borders in Virginia and Maryland every Friday night. He has placed in The Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, The Music World Song Contest, and had his songs aired on ABC News 7. "long time coming" has been sold in Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Arizonia, New Mexico, Nevada, California, New York, Michigan, Indiana, and in Europe.

author: ScottThe CD gives you are real sence of where he is going with his music. There are a few songs that are as good as any of the singer/song writers out there.
Excellent
author: Beth NewburyJohnny's songs are a lot deeper than what is out there now. Hopefully, the time has come for more singer/songwriter's to be more commercially accepted, the world needs more artist's like this.
