notes
In the fickle chasm called rock 'n' roll many bands fantasize about contracts, cash and fame. However the majority are forgotten soon after their birth. YNOT?! did and still continues to avert that consequence.
The guys came on strong at their inception in 1987. YNOT?!'s Marco Riva, Steve Wallace, Darryl Joyner, Steve Miller and Paul Lewis provided their fans with a collection of original music that was suprisingly seasoned for a band of recent formation, coupled with a visual element that highlights frontman Paul Lewis' ability to make sure no one stands still. A potent mix of melody, no-nonsense lyrics, passion, and delivery made YNOT?! a serious contender on both college radio and pop charts.
They transposed themselves into one of the regions most acclaimed acts - fans frenetically battled for dance space in venues from Manhattan to the Carolinas. YNOT?! was among an endangered breed of musicians; it is often difficult to consistently lure fans to hear an all original sets. Untrue for this band. In fact, YNOT?! took it a step beyond. Says vocalist Paul Lewis, "It's a fantastic feeling to show up in a city where you don't live and watch the audience grooving and singing along to your music."
In the summer of 1992, the band released an album on Marquis Records, with distribution through Sony/Relativity. The album titled "A Thrilled Voice" sold thousands of copies in record stores and at live shows.
A year later some of the original founding members left the band and a new four piece emerged. The YNOT?! cast has been as diverse as it's craft. Guitarist Dave Manners (a legend in the Philadelphia circuit) melds rock riffs with the powerful subtlety of blues. Daren Stumps bass playing evolves around melodic eclectic grooves. Steve Miller is relentless on percussion; few drummers have the presence to be thrust into the consciousness from the rear of the stage. United with sheer strength and poignant vulnerability of Lewis' rich chords and kinetic stage show, YNOT?! was destined to become a household word.
With a sense of audience. YNOT?! has created music in cooperation with it's fans. Superb arrangements and thought provoking music leaves listeners feeling they just tasted a bit of the past and future of post modern music.
The band disbanded in 1996 but occasionally peform reunion shows.

WOW, what more can I say!
author: Thom jacobsJust a fantastic group of guys. From the Stone balloon in Newark to Hammer Jacks in Baltimore, we YNOT?! groupies were there. Their magical lyrics kept us all moving and in love with them. I miss them all and will miss Steve’s smile the most. I am sure he is shacking the wings of the angels as I type! Much love friend, much love!
How could you not buy it?!
author: Michael WilkinsonOnce a Ynot fan, always a Ynot fan. My old girlfriend turned me onto them back in the day and used to drag me to shows. Turns out, she had great taste in music. It was hard not to get caught up in it, it was so contagious. So when I need a little of that Ynot feel good, I'll be popping this disc in my player. Thanks for the legacy guys. miike/dB3 www.myspace.com/dividedbythree

I miss you so much.....
Fabulous!
author: Leslie M.This CD captures the energy and magic that YNOT showed to so many of us fans; listening to it makes you feel like you are at one of their shows! It makes you want to get up and dance on your chair! They are INCREDIBLE "live" as well as in the studio, and this disc proves it. Volume I leaves you thirsty for MORE YNOT songs. Hopefully Volume II won't be too far behind!!

Wow...This is a great CD. 80+ YNOT shows for me so this brings back some great memories. Hammerjacks and the Bayou may be gone but the music lives on. Let's hope they re-release the video of the Hammerjacks show from the early 90s on DVD!!!
Great now great then
author: DeanOne last time...Thanks to Steve. The sound is as good as ever.
This is the best Y-NOT CD ever!!!!
author: Stacy TylerThis CD is a reminder of why so many of us would do anything to see this band. The music was unique and thought provoking. The live show was something to behold. I saw Paul and his new band (which BTW consists of many Y-NOT members) recently and he is just as energetic and if not more of a showman and musician as he was before. WOW!!! This CD captures a history of a very underated east coast rock-n-roll phenomenon know as Y-NOT.

I saw YNOT live no less than 50 different times at venues from Philly to Virginia. Besides U2, YNOT is the only band that I can say I like every one of their songs. This album brought back some great memories and it still ROCKS!! Even though some of these songs are fifteen years old they still could be mistaken for new today. YNOT STILL blows away any band out there! Steve Miller might have departed this world but what he gave to all of us in his music will never die. For that I thank him.
Great Representation of YNOT?!'s Legacy...
author: Brad Hole; Seattle, WAThe best live show of any bar band that I have seen. Paul Lewis and YNOT?! should be commended for their great shows over the years. I only wish the world have could have had the same experience. This was a great album to pick up to hear the classics that didn't make their EP or "World So Aftraid Album". Wish you were touring out west.

Steve Miller could not have asked for a better tribute. He must be looking down at all of this with a huge smile on his face. My friends and I used to go and see the band all the time. The record captures all of what this band was about and then some! Great job Realize Records!

This is how I remembered the band Y-NOT in all it's glory. An amazing collection of songs. The energy from this band jumps out of my speakers and forces me to move. I love hearing the radio interview. Hearing Steve Miller's voice is sad and great at the same time. It's a great homage to him. He would've been proud! I can't wait for Volume 2!
