Gary & Tony have been playing together to create Healing Harmonies for the past 5 years and have now captured the essence of their beautiful work together on this CD.

Tony Young (also known as 'Narad')

Tony is a singer-songwriter, pianist and teacher who brings alive an experience of the power of sound to heal and align the many levels of our being. Through his music, he has a unique ability to reach the hearts of his listeners.

He currently tours around the world giving workshops, concerts and retreats to promote peace and well-being, inside & out. From early on he felt the healing power of music and today uses it in his work.

In a more popular vein, Tony has played piano in several hotels and restaurants around London and whilst studying Biology at Oxford, also wrote, produced and performed 2 original musicals. Subsequently he spent 6 months working alongside 'musical guru' Stephen Sondheim as personal assistant on a Musical Theatre course there.

Since then whilst still writing and teaching, he has travelled widely, learning from a variety of musical and spiritual traditions, spending time in India, Wales, Europe and the USA, improving his knowledge and understanding of healing prayer, mantra, raga, bhajans & meditation.

A sensitive and joyful musician and teacher, Tony also benefits from experience in the fields of Shiatsu & Yoga, using sound and movement as a tool for inner peace and well-being. From sounds which balance the body's energy systems, to audience participation in singing which is freeing and healing, his workshops and playshops give people a renewed sense of peace and self-worth.

As a retreat facilitator, his many years of study from a variety of spiritual & religious traditions, produces a wide-ranging understanding of the human predicament. He is able to skillfully show people a way forward which increases self-esteem, balance and happiness.

Through music, mantra, and meditation, he catalyses a return to the centre and helps us feel the presence of paradise here and now, within our own hearts...

Tony also works on a voluntary basis to raise awareness and funds for The Centre for Peacemaking & Community Development, a Quaker-based NGO which works to prevent and resolve the trauma of war through humanitarian and educational projects.

Gary Plumley

Gary is a saxophonist, flautist, clarinetist, teacher and composer based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, U.K.
He is internationally known through his work with Terry Callier, Snowboy, George Michael, Swing Out Sister and the Sterophonics, in addition to being a very popular solo artist in his own right.

Gary has two groups of his own: HEART AND SOUL, a Soul-Jazz-Funk outfit, with vocalist Ian Harrison, and QUOVADIS, a duo with flute and classical guitar.
He has also played and recorded with The Four Tops, The Temptations, Gary Barlow, Martha Reeves
and The Vandellas, Ronnie Scott, Shakatak, George McCrea, Chesney Hawkes, Nik Kershaw, The Gypsy Kings, Lisa Stansfield, The Cure, Sheila Ferguson, The James Taylor Quartet, Sax Appeal and The Latin Section.
Gary's talent and inspired playing is always a great joy to hear and his presence certainly adds heart & soul to any group he plays with.

Gary talks about his life in music:

"I started playing guitar aged 13. At 15 I was playing over the Kings Head, Rochford with the Jazz Group. The saxophone players in the band inspired me to take up saxophone aged 16. I was self-taught at first, I gained a lot of valuable experience playing over the Zero 6 in Southend, which held a musicians' workshop rehearsing and playing with local bands."

"At 22 I played my first pro gig with The Rocky Horror Show touring England, Ireland and Germany. More work with local bands followed. After answering an advert in Melody Maker I joined the Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner for a six-month cruise round the islands, gaining much needed experience."

"I also worked in Denmark with a pop band but soon realised that, as a self-taught musician, I had a few gaps in my knowledge of music. I applied to, and was accepted at, the Guildhall School Of Music at 28 years old. After that I moved to London, started with Sax Appeal and met most of the musicians I still work with today."

"After 30 years I am continuously learning and find that daily practice is very beneficial to my playing. My interests are now expanding into composition and arranging, which I studied at the Guildhall."
