Second Chance also known also known as Ewart Alexander Blake born, 1971 in Clarendon, Jamaica, fell in love with music at the age of five (5),Since then, He took part in talent shows, church choirs, and local concerts. He migrated to the USA in 1989 where he began to worship at the Berean Church of God in Ft. Lauderdale, under the leadership of Bishop Joseph Fagan.
Second Chance took part in local church groups, singing in the community and in local area churches. He released his first album “Mission Fi God” in 1998 as part of the group while being lead singer in “The Blake Band”. His sophomore album “Hold On” was released in 2004 which allowed him the opportunity to perform alongside acts like Marvia Providence, Shirley Willis (Grace Thrillers), Papa San, Junior Tucker, Stitchie, Prodigal Son, DJ Nicholas, Nigel Lewis, Alvin Slaughter, Hopeton Lewis, Shelly Thunder, Yankee B and many others. His sophomore album won the Hopeton Lewis award for Best New Male Caribbean/American Award. He has also performed internationally including countries like Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Jamaica, and Canada. But as the years went by, the Lord has inspired Second Chance with new inspiration and real life experiences, which allowed him to write songs on a deeper level. Limited by Florida’s culture of traditional gospel, and the lack of Jamaican influence in his music, Second Chance became very uninspired and lost hope. In January 2007, 2nd Chance met Dr. Dizzle whom he developed a personal and musical chemistry with, which brought about a challenge he had never yet taken up before in his life, i.e. completing an album in the period of 2 weeks, “Walk Gud”. This new affiliation and link brought about a major change in Second Chance’s musical sound and Dr. Dizzle being the platinum genius producer he is, brought out that new sound out of Second Chance. Just like rice and peas and chicken on a Sunday afternoon, that is what the music became. A few months later, it was Deja Vu, Second Chance & Dr. Dizzle at it again, but the only difference is, Dr. Dizzle allowed Second Chance to play keyboards and bass on this second album entitled “Heavenly Highway” which features artistes like Dahlia Ashley & Duraine Ashley. Heavenly Highway is a compilation of songs taken directly from the Heavenly Highway hymnal which brings out the more worshipful and singing side of Second Chance.]
