John Lasseter

Small-group jazz, really swings
I caught these guys at a small club in Ithaca, NY, earlier this year. The audience was criminally small, but every one of us was on the floor. You couldn't help it: the band just brought the house down. I picked up this CD at the show, and I've probably given it a dozen listens so far (and counting). Their sound is very traditional New Orleans jazz, with tenor banjo, washtub bass, clarinet, trumpet and trombone. Every track is tight and swings like crazy: even the slower ballad numbers like "Baby Won't You Please Come Home" have an infectious groove to them. Highly recommended for lovers of traditional jazz.

Oh yeah!
Their music transports me. I love it!
