ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Barnicle Bill Trio:
Miguel Martinez - alto sax
Mark Haanstra - acoustic bass guitar
John Engels - drums

Legendary Jazz drummer John Engels joined two young top musicians from the contemporary scene. Together with Miguel Martinez on alto sax and Mark Haanstra on acoustic bass guitar they are the Barnicle Bill Trio.
Their source of inspiration are famous saxophone trio's from giants such as Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, Joe Henderson and Branford Marsalis.
The repertroire consists mainly of jazz standards that never really became 'standard'.
Currently Barnicle Bill is working towards their debut cd. The presentation will be at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam on John's 75th Birthday!
