ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Story Behind “Awaken”

Rom. 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom. 8:21 that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. (ASV)

When I wrote this song over a year ago, I realized that it had an unusual message. It was penned from a different angle than I normally write, so I had some hesitation in releasing it. I had composed a verse and chorus, but it still didn’t seem finished. So, I set it aside.

In March, my wife, Lisa, told me she had dreamed that our next album would be called “Awaken.” Then, in April, while preparing a song list for our Watchman Intercessors Assembly, I remembered this song. I had already felt that we would have some new songs for the conference. By adding Lisa’s one word, I was able to write the bridge and complete the message of the song. It’s time to awaken.

I finished the new song that afternoon, and we sang it at the evening session. “Awaken” had a great impact on the evening session as well as the entire conference. We hope it will awaken the dawn of destiny within you to be that son or daughter of God.
