ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
EARTHOLOGY has arrived. The follow up project to EKLIPSE released in 2004. This CD is a beautiful blend of Spoken Word, Soul, Hip Hop and Jazz. Floyd Boykin Jr., founder and creator of SpokenVizions Magazine and SpokenVizions.com has released an excellent third solo music project. It kind of places you in the mind of Guru’s Jazmatazz project due to the fact that there are various collaborations such as Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Maya Azucena, Tantra-Zawadi, Marc Marcel, Al Caldwell, Tia from Gravaty, Tracy Mitchell, Lamar Harris, Coco Soul, Angela Shaw, Seviin Li, Ms. Nterpretation, El Thought, CHILL, Derek Brown, Tylan, Patricia Daniels, Jacquette M. Boykin, Indigo Lee and Tyrone. and many more. Floyd is also a songwriter, bass player, a lupus activist and a filmmaker.

With the release of the lead video single “She Could Be My Wife” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSacuCwgytA) , a major buzz has been created for the release of EARTHOLOGY. Laced with innovative lyrics and soulful music, this is a must have CD (digital release) to add to your collection. The entire album, with the exception of the lead single, was produced by Mr. Boykin. "She Can Be My Wife" was produced by Lamar Harris for JoWille Music. Lamar also played on "Work It' Out (We As A People). “I wanted to create a music project that could reach people who normally do not purchase spoken word CDs, but in the same sense, I did not want to compromise my poetry because I want poetry lovers to support this project as well. I think that my goal was achieved with EARTHOLOGY”, says Boykin.

It is highly recommend that you give this 13 track digital release a listen and then add it to your collection.
Don’t be surprise if this project becomes one of your favorites.

Admittedly, I never have been a fan of spoken word. I was drawn to this because of the artist’s passion for what he (at the time) was creating. As the project progressed, I was fortunate to hear samples and was completely blown away. Not at all how I imagined it would be, the music held me captive. As a studio musician vocals are the last thing I hear, so I instinctively tune them out under even normal listening situations. With Floyd Boykin Jr., I was unable to separate the music from the powerful messages that were coming at me. If you must, forget the genre and labels placed on it in an effort to categorize this project. Just listen and you’ll see why it is so popular… and powerful. Great work, FBJ!

la princessa!!
Hey! I just got the EARTHOLOGY album and it is absolutely wonderful!! I only had to listen to the song "She Could Be My Wife" and I was sold!!! Everything on the album is a great listening/learning piece, and the songs are such a great mixture of hip-hop, R&B, Neosoul, all of it!! All of the songs give a message, a positive, powerful message, which we ALL need in this day and age. I applaud FLOYD for taking the chance and huge leap to put something out there that is sophisticated and meaningful (and clean). Lots of love and support to you, keep doing the positive things and I can't wait for the next album.

This is undoubtedly the best spokenword album in my collection. The music was rhythmic, yet soothing while the lyrics left you inspired, uplifted and sometimes convicted. In the tracks on this CD, Floyd tackles the issues from cultural exploitations to matters of the heart. This is a definite must have for lovers of the truth!

It's a Banger
I finally...FINALLY downloaded my Earthology cd yesterday and hate that I have made myself so busy to have waited to have waited this long. I have known Floyd for many, many years and he's always been in a class of his own. This cd...let's just say that I hate that I gave up on Poetic gift just from listening to his creative Spoken word along with the ft. artists. I don't know which one I like better than the other. "Be Poetic", "She Could Be my Wife", "Strangled Dreams"??? The list goes on.

She could be my wife
When I listened to this one it made me picture my husband speaking the words to me. I love this piece because it really spoke to my heart.

This project is a work of art. Very well written, very well executed. Floyd delivers deep, heart-felt messages and stories that hit home. This project is a must have! Excellent work Floyd Boykin jr.

Aural Gumbo
It's a pleasure in this day and age to put in a cd and let it run from front to back. That's what Floyd Boykin Jr. has achieved with Earthology, if I were forced to point out some highlights I would have to go with "Free", "Be Poetic" and "Open Letter to My Son". The mix of flavors on this album blend to form something very special... just like GUMBO!!!

One of the best compilations of the year!
EARTHOLOGY is sort of a doxology for the mind and spirit. As a recent student of Floyd Boykins' work I expected something uplifting and educating, but what I got was an explosion of high spirited DOPE that has me hooked to this composition of work which is Floyd's third cd release. From beginning to end I was captured by the truth and anecdote that describe his view of the world around him. In this 13 track body of work Floyd and his collaborators take you from one place in reality beginning with the explosive piece "Fantasy World" to "Build Me A World" featuring the awesome and international poet Tantra-Zawadi, and you are left feigning for yet another injection of this DOPE project.

My Take
Arrangement and Engineering: From beginning to end this CD grabs the attention of even the most least attentive listener and will leave you wanting to rewind.
