ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Subandi is one of Bali's most prolific and celebrated composers of traditional and experimental music. Subandi regularly teaches and performs all over the world. In Bali, he is a teacher and composer at the Sekolah Menengah Karawitan Indonesia (SMKI) in addition to running his own music and dance center for local members of the community. His music is highly sought after at Bali's annual arts Festival competition and has won several prestigious awards. While steeped in the idioms of Balinese traditional music, Subandi's work reaches across cultural lines to incorporate a broad spectrum of musical influences including the musics of Java, India, South America, and the European Avant-Garde. His music can be found on Bali Records and Porter Records as well as on his own indepedent label, Ceraken Records.
