*** Tell me… Who is Jeffrey Valantine?
I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan but both of my parents came from Mississippi for economic opportunity. I attended Riverside Jr. High School. I also Graduated from Creston High School, as well as from Grand Rapids Community College with a Bachelors in Music.
At the age of 17, I was playing the local club scene on a regular basis and was making a "buzz" in the music community. While clubbing, I was discovered by Tommy and (the late) Bobby De Barge, and was asked to become their guitar player. I was given the opportunity and learned the "art of recording" from Bobby and Tommy, and soon was writing and recording my own music. I quickly learned all aspects of the music industry.

***What Genre of music do you consider your work to be?
Most of the influence of my music is with R&B; however I feel my talent is limitless, and expands to Hip Hop, Pop, and Soul. Gospel, Blues, Rap, Rock and even Country are also some of the areas I have adventured into.

***Who are your major influences?
I have been honored to work with the best in the music business. I was influenced by, Prince, and Charles Singleton, The De Barges, and so many others.

***When did you start your music?
I started playing a guitar at the age of 9. By the age of 11, my mother would buy me my first guitar for $35.00.
When I was young, I worked a paper route for a few years, and was able to afford my first semi-professional guitar at the age of 14. By the age of 16 I had bought my first professional "Fender" guitar.

***Do you have a record label?
Yes, I have my own Record Label: Grand Land Entertainment, where artists can request to expand their talent, and have their music written, mixed, mastered, and distributed, all under one roof. Distribution goes worldwide with 70 plus internet instant download sites and 2500 Brick and Mortar stores.

***Where have you performed?
In my youth, I have played many performances. My producing skills have allowed me to tour the United States, to promote my past albums and works with Grand Land Entertainment.
By the age of 22, I recorded my first hit "Lonely Room" which featured Bobby De Barge. I am always very busy producing hits for other artists at "Grand Land Entertainment", my Production Company, and many other major recording companies.

*** Tell me about you latest releases?
"THE TRUTH" is finally here! June 2010 is our newest release and comes up after releasing, and is the follow up album to Jamal's – “The Return of Song” It is the latest release through Grand Land Entertainment. This CD was completely written, arranged, and produced by Jeffrey Valantine. My son Jamal Chilton, is the vocalist on this CD. Jamal’s voice presence is definitely a sound to be reckoned with. Jamal and “The Return of Song” can be found at U Tube, search, jamalcmusic, and also on, I Tunes, and Zune. You can also purchase the CD at grandlandent.

***Who writes your music?
I write, arrange, and compose, all of my own work. I have also worked with so many other artists. I assist in the production of their music from the beginning to end.

***Are there any other accomplishments?
Yes, I have written and produced for Motown Records, Zoo Entertainment, and Solar Records, I have also produced for Holland Dozier. I have worked with many major recording artists in the music intustry. In 2005 I also wrote a song for the movie Beauty Shop.

***Could you briefly describe your music making process?
There is nothing that I can’t do in the processing of music, and all aspects of what it takes to get a song to radio or CD. My talents have been compared to Prince.

***What do you have coming up in the near future?
June 2010 is the release of A NEW masterpiece by myself, Jeffrey Valantine called “The Truth”. My latest upcoming release is an R&B, soul, feel, and was put together, to bring back the real sound of music from the past. This New album “The Truth” is sure to top the charts on release. So here is “The Truth” June 2010

***How has your music evolved since you began in the business?
Over the years the music has changed from a technical aspect, to a more simple form with the growth of technology used in the studios today.

***What has been your major challenge as an artist?
The most challenging aspect of music and creativity, is staying current with the market today.

***What is the ultimate direction for your music in the future?
To be the best that I can be …

***What advice do you have for upcoming artists?
My advice for upcoming artists is to be creative, and stay in tune with the current music, do not try to re-invent the wheel … just fix the flat, and keep it rollin.

***How can “fans to be” gain access to your music?
The best way to gain access is to go to . You can also follow me on face book under Jeffrey Valantine. For sales and downloads, could also find my music on, I Tunes, Zune, Best Buy, and Barnes and Nobles. You can always find me by searching Jeffrey Valantine.

I am very thankful for the road that I have traveled down, as a singer, song writer, musician, and producer. The footprints that I thought were mine…Were never mine … It was always God carrying me. And for that I am thankful… Many Blessings to all of you and remember…Dreams do not die … People just stop dreamin.
