Finders Weepers - Single

by Karen Burkhart

Inspirational Country flavor culminating in a groovy, bluesy bridge. This song is based on the hard saying of Jesus recorded in Matthew 10; Whoever finds his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Many years ago in college I wrote a sermon for my Homiletics (preaching) class based on Matthew 10 where Jesus says, "Whoever finds his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." This text immediately brought to mind the popular playground chant but in reverse: Finders Weepers, Losers Keepers. This became my sermon title and it has stuck with me over the years. Whenever I hear the conventional saying I'm always reminded how Jesus calls us to live a life totally different from the way the world lives. He calls us to do radical things like turn the other cheek, go two miles when someone asks us to go one, overcome evil with good, and lose our lives for His sake. It's going to take a lifetime to fully grasp the the truth of Jesus' words but I understand more now than I did when I was 20. From experience I've learned that when I give up selfish ambition and choose to serve others, I find enormous fulfillment and satisfaction. I've also learned that time and energy spent in service to God is renewable whereas time and energy spent chasing the wind is burdensome. I hope this song speaks to you and gets into your soul. I hope it inspires you to go against the flow and live in light of eternity!

Finders Weepers is arranged and produced by Felix Weber of Felix Weber Productions.
