Since the beginning of my career , I have always had a clear thought: that everything I do must come from my own sense of sincerity. This is my first published work, with music that is full of stories and sentiments, and it is imbued with everything that is in my heart.
I was born in Granada, and while I have traveled to many places and have been delighted to learn about many cultures, I see them through Grenadian eyes. This is a sensitivity that comes from walking along the cobble-stone streets of the Albayzin, and watching the sunsets over the mountains behind "La Vega", and living in a city that moves between Morocco and Spain; the Arab influence has been here for centuries and is part of the city´s essence. My own compositions share a similar base in their multiculturalism, and they are grounded in the beauty of plurality, differences that allow us to enrich life by offering something of our own.
I have always felt that my voice was watery, or of a material that was always changing and never the same, moldable, and supple. When I submerge myself in the harmonies of music, I feel that everything flows, and that my voice becomes a thin stream of water, like a small river that forms after the rain and flows through stones without anything in its path... or at sea, at sunset, when the ocean is calm and quiet.
"Niña Pez" is a collection of small daily stories with a magic touch. The objective was to capture the emotions and intimacy. We recorded in an acoustic format, with piano, bass and drums, and with renowned Flamenco musicians from Andalucia who know how to transmit the magic and fusion of this land. I have also incorporated the music of special guests from New York and around the world who give this work the sense of a round trip, where the music departs from its original destination and returns to origin, with new and enriched colors.
