ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"LOIDE, Live at the Bohemian Caverns” is a 12 track LP that takes you on a musical and cultural journey that can be enjoyed by everyone, it’s jazzy, it’s raw, and she reflects this new era of the “Afropolitian” representing for those of us that embrace the complexities of our cultures. Loide finds a way to intertwine the contemporary jazz ranges of Nancy Wilson with the soul of Cesaria Evora, as she eases back and forth from English to her native tongue, Portuguese offering with each track a unique sound and perspective.

Sultry
"Loide, Live at the Bohemian Caverns" is medicinal to the bone. It's the perfect CD that marries creativity and boldness. Loide geniously and audaciously layers together harmonies and rhythms that pay respect to her influences from Esthero to Sade to Brazillian jazz, creating a sound that not only disarms the steadfast listener but also helps win the affection of even the capricious one. You can't help but be drawn to her voice. Check out my favorite tracks, "Don't Forget, Thank Heaven for You and Soweto Blues". For all the Esthero, Ceu, Sade and Dobet Gnahore fans out there, you'll love this album for sure!!! Get your copy NOW!!!

WOW!!!
This CD is a nice blend of Bebel Gilberto, Cesaria Evora and Sade. Loide's rich sound makes you want more. Her hypnotic voice, sunroof open, and the crisp feel of fall, who needs anything else? I'm excited to hear more from this new artist and encourage everyone to experience this musical journey themselves!

"Musically Refreshing Album"
I’ve really enjoyed listening to this album. Her sound is somewhat of a fusion of afro-reggae-portugese jazz and is very refreshing. The album content can complement many moods from conscious, sadness, love to celebratory and I’ve been able to enjoy it at any time of the day- morning, noon or evening. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Loide.

Like a Smooth Drink
This album is like a smooth drink. It goes down easy and is the perfect chill music to spend a Sunday listening to while reading a book. Or a great cd to spend the night chilling with the one you love. This artist is definitely headed places.

Grown Folks Music!
Loide has a voice like thick mango juice - smooth sticky sweet with an intensity that might surprise you. She is a grown a$$ woman with a voice to prove it. CD favorite: Sade's "Stronger Than Pride" - It is not often you hear an "unknown" vocalist display the confidence & sense of self as a singer to make a well known song their own. Most just try to do the song like the original artist & hope you'll think they sound "just as good." Loide demonstrates a vocal maturity in that she knows her voice and sings the song in her voice - not Sade's. I hardly hear a Sade cover, and when I do, I groan and want to wash my ears out with soap. No one loves Sade like I do (we can fight over that claim!) and Loide's interpretation matches the EMOTION and INTENSITY of the original, in a sound that is distinctly her own. Don't sleep on her song writing skills either: Fallin' is a great example, among others. The musicians are RIDICULOUS and the live recording gives it a great organic feel. You WILL be transported by this new vocalist with a vibrato you feel in your chest who brings worlds and musical cultures together as if there were no sea separating them. So now, take your mouse, point your pointer at "buy cd," and CLICK!

Well put together
As a musician for over 30 years, this is a good cd! It's very well put together. The musicianship is good, and as a singer at a live show - Loide is very calm and controlled. Loide knows what she wants to do with the music. This is a cd to listen to after work, during dinner. It's very relaxing. Very nice!
