ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This group was founded in March 1998 from a melting pot of diverse and friendly people. Maruao groups, is 7 friends and talented musicians: Maoake Tuahine, Greau Tamahaere and Vainuu Raapoto, songwriters, guitar and vocals, Louiou Galenon on lead guitar, Joseph Lai on percussion and drums, Ben Eastwood at djideridoo, Ipeva Tetahio at the bass. A group that nurtures its specificity, in a savory blend of male voices and melodious tunes, jazzy, blues, rock, reggae, both local and Anglo-Saxon Hawaiians.
Their varied repertoire takes them from English, Hawaiian to French, through the Tahitian, and makes this a must for beautiful Polynesian evenings. Maruao occurs in concert twice a week in places which become known in Tahiti, this evening, "spots" where it should be.
On July 15 and 16, 2010, Maruao was invited to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival for two concerts, rich in emotion and mood.
