This collection of new and previously unreleased material from Matt Venuti's archives contains a plethora of diversity...from the spooky-fun dance vibe in "Bardos Remix" and the hauntingly visual "Middle of Nowhere" to the cool and exotic instrumental pop of "Crocodile" and "Star Bar". The anthemic "We're All In This Together" juxtaposes the funk-filled money mantra of "Gotta Get More". Two live tracks include an electrified version of the Venusian classic "Time Tunnel Vision" and an improv/ jam called "Hippo Beach".
Several incarnations of the Venusian ensemble are represented in "Venus Lounge", along with a guest appearance by jazz legend Stan Getz, whom John Coltrane acknowledged as his favorite saxophonist. This was one of the last recordings that Stan made before his passing...and it was done in the living room of his Malibu beach home. His signature sound and style are as smooth and gorgeous as ever.
