Exceptional
This is a first class work, fascinating on so many levels. The compositions have that 'weird and wonderful' quality that allows you to listen many times over while still feeling fresh. His improvisations are similarly subtle and yet full of creativity. I lost track of Max Middleton after Jeff Beck. (I still hear 'Diamond Dust' in my mind occasionally; a master work and a perfect vehicle for Jeff's creative solos.) Finding this after so many years is like stumbling across a buried treasure. It doesn't get any better than this.
