WELCOME TO- -"ROCK HALL CITY"-- GreaterCleveland.Biz" -What is-- "THE BIZ"-- Anyway?? -ANSWER--"LETS ROCK"??
-Dedicated to the Proposition That--Maybe- "The Best Location in the Nation" - Just Might Need a-- "New Destination"??
--PLAN--Look Less Like "Detroit" - and more like--"Huntington Beach" - Orange County- California -just South of LA--
While California is --ALSO BROKE-- Like Detroit is BROKE--It Looks Nothing Like Detroit--RIGHT??--Is There a Difference--I Say--It is Not Just the WEATHER--It's the "Positive Attitude" --IF YOU BUILD IT--THEY WILL COME--We have a "Sleepy Blue Ocean" on our North Coast--AND--We Are The "ROCK HALL CITY" --So Then--"LETS ROCK" -Using Our Art Districts-and COAST LINE -INTERCONNECT the -ART DISTRICTS--"The Q" & "Progressive Field" & "Theater District" To the COAST--
--Covered walkways--A Pier different from Huntington Beach--ALONG THE COAST & High enough to allow boats to pass under.--A Win--Win-??--Everything there can stay--What we add--JUST MAKES IT ALL BETTER--
It is even Possible that a Covered Area--Like the CSU Athletic Field on E 18th-on the Pier--Might Draw the "Classic Rock Greats" to Cleveland to perform for the "Rock Hall'' inductions??--SORRY NY--But--WE ARE The "ROCK HALL CITY" not YOU--RIGHT??--And while you always will be the "HOME OF THE "BIZ" with LA--Maybe-we can find our Rightful Place Somewhere in "THE BIZ"--BUT REMEMBER--In the BIZ--"If You Got No-- BUZZ----You Got No-- BIZ"---RIGHT???--"Right Detroit"??
Consider this—Whatever footage the Pier-Platform-Deck-or whatever you call it creates
over the lake, it could possibly be some of the most valuable commercial space in Ohio.
Communities near Port Clinton, Ohio on the water, tell us that.
BUT—It may be a Long Run-Profit Formula which I think might be hard to sell around here due to our lack of positive thinking. But consider the Bars, Taverns, & all other retail sites that would have great views -- & on & on—RIGHT—And Really-- Isn’t it just sort of like building a wide bridge behind First Energy Stadium to the breaker wall or beyond??
While cost-benefit research in the short run may look bad—assuming the long run maintenance would be reasonable, Huntington Beach Pier has been there—How Long--and is still going strong. Also, unlike what I’m proposing, HB Pier was built as a fishing type pier-very long and narrow- which greatly reduces it’s retail business use.
But—See the HB Pier Web Cam Link Below—The City uses it’s Pier as it’s “National
Calling Card”—RIGHT??—Does That Not—Tell Us Something??
----For What it is Worth??? -- —Nick Jack Marino---9/7/13--
QUESTION—Is it possible-We The People of Greater Cleveland -can have our Open
Air-Subzero Football & The DOME & More “we need” over “Dead Space” over the Lake??—All tied into the rest of the City??
--“Would That Be Of Interest To Ya Laddie”???
---“Would That Be Worth Something To Ya Laddie”??
------THE BEST LOCATION IN THE NATION—REVISITED-----
How many cities in the world are build beside a Wet but Shallow-Geologically Stable
--Vacant Lot—that goes on & on for miles and miles. Better than wet land in Florida
since from what I remember of my Akron U Geology Classes many years ago, Lake
Erie’s bottom is not that different from the land in the rest of Ohio—Right??
Anytime you need to build on “Wet’ areas, there are challenges but our coast, is not
A deep ocean or sea—It is just a “Vacant Lot with water on it”—RIGHT—So what
is the big deal given the value of land down town. And—WE THE PEOPLE OWN IT—
NOT SOME CORPORATION—WE ONLY NEED EXPLOIT IT’S VALUE—RIGHT??
--------THE FORTH OF JULY 2015------
How about we all go down to the “Pier” tonight. We can watch an outdoor movie or
hear some Rock Music-Eat dinner & drink on what looks a lot like the “Deck” of a
huge-huge-huge- cruise ship—Safe-Secure with walk bridges that lead to the Warehouse
District, West & East Banks of the Flats, Theater District-The Q-& Progressive Field
-The Casino—on & on-
After a beautiful sunset, we can listen to “Bruce" & “The Lower East Side” play “Born in the USA” while out in the lake a boat sets off fireworks.
WITH A COVERED “DOME” –Like the one at CSU at East 18th—or much larger, Little Changes For—NEW YEARS EVE—RIGHT??—Ice skating on the “Pier” maybe??
--Can You See—Maybe our Changing Economy and Downturn -Loss of Manufacturing and Challenges since the late 1960's- made our Leaders work harder to --Get the ROCK HALL--Build our NEW STADIUMS--Build the SCIENCE CENTER --CASINO & on & on--& PUT IT ALL DOWNTOWN--NOT IN THE BURBS--Which I think is BETTER FOR EVERYONE--NOW--It is just time-MAYBE-To develop the--VACANT LOT--Just NORTH of THE BEST LOCATION IN THE NATION--RIGHT??
YOU GOT TO ADMIT--"THE BUZZ"--COULD BE LOUD--RIGHT??--I think - "IT WOULD CHANGE EVERYTHING"!!!!!
----------THE ECONOMICS OF CONNECT--------
Why Connect the City?? ANSWER—Because connecting in Business & Sales is so Powerful, it can even be illegal. Tie-in Sales is where a business has a product that
everyone wants and is easy to sell, usually it also has a patent where it only can sell it,
and to buy it, you Must Buy another less popular product the company sells. The process is to try to use your winning product to take out competition in the less popular product’s
market. Turn one Winner into two Winners. It Can be illegal Antitrust or Unfair Trade Practice.
I think "Microsoft" had a high profile issue in Federal Court not that long ago??
So –Why Not Connect Our City With Easy Access & Secure Weather Proof Walk Ways?? Too Simple?? Other places that have done it are WINNING”-Twin Cities”??
They are a lot colder than we are and are high growth places compared to most other cities and have been for a long time. The model seems to help even with the recession. The model seems to work with the Global Economy.
If Columbus changes the “open container laws” –that also helps under the “Connect Model” and-- if travel along the covered passages is made an Adventure with artists
exhibits or other vendors and views of the city & with music & art & with eat & drink,
probably rented to the businesses already in town in the different parts of the city, all
leading to & from “The Pier” –I SEE A HUGE—WIN—WIN—WIN—WIN for –ALL GREATER CLEVELAND—The Browns, The Cavs, The Indians, & on & on. Might even help us GET and KEEP Great Palyers??
--WHOULD THAT BE WORTH SOMETHING TO YA???—And Remember, the “Vacant Lot” to the North is “HUGE” –As in Maybe Potential “CONVENTION CENTER”-- HUGE” --RIGHT??? --BRING ON THE ENGINEERS!!!—BRING ON THE ARCHITECTS!!!—BRING ON THE REGIONAL LEADERS !!!!!—WITH VISION???
And while Cleveland may not become a ‘BIZ” capitol since NYC & LA are so There-- -------We May Need To Settle For “ Party Town USA” –And I Would Take That If We Can Get It!!!!!—RIGHT????---9/19/13
In the “Glory Years” of the Browns in the 1980’s my wife & I & friends had 4 season tickets the Browns. As our kids got older, we had to give them up as our weekends filled with their activities. My Son & Daughter-in-law have tickets now. How things keep going round. But anyway, when we had them, we would drive from Akron to the East Bank of the Flats & park. Generally we ate there and would then walk the RR tracks to the old stadium which sat on the lake just to the east as the new one does now. After the game, we would walk back and generally eat at a place called the “Watermark” or go up into the city and then back to the flats. It was great fun mostly because the “Dogs” always won back then. But even after- “The Drive” by Denver, we still did our thing since there was always-next year.
For those not from Cleveland, “The Flats” are the area along the Cuyahoga River as it flows to Lake Erie in Downtown Cleveland.
The Point of all this, all the businesses of the East Bank closed a long time ago and there is now an effort to revive the area. The bank West of the City still has some action.
QUESTION—Would both Banks have done better if Connected by an easy way to get to each other rather than a “water taxi”???? –“Safe Walk Bridge Maybe”—AND –How is now different from when those old --GREAT BUSINESSES—ALL FAILED—Some Years Ago??—What Has Really Changed—Or Maybe—THINGS CAN CHANGE??—RIGHT??—IF IT IS DONE RIGHT!!!!!—CONNECTING EVERYTHING GOOD IN CLEVELAND TO OUR NEW “NORTH COAST’ or the “GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH”—RIGHT-- “Phineas”—Old Sport--???
