Devotion is Peter Govan's first CD, celebrating the ethereal nature of overtone singing in a highly resonant space. Although all compositions are original, this collection of deeply moving and meditative songs is a weaving of many cultural influences ranging from Mongolian throat singing to Scottish ballads, Tibetan chanting, Indian harmonium and inspirational singers from around the world. This recording was used by the BBC in the documetary "Trust me Im a Healer."Recorded Live at Greenside car park stairwell, Edinburgh Summer 2001.
Overtone Singing is an extraordinary vocal technique in which up to 3 distinct notes can be sung simultaneously by one person. Overtoning originates in the Altai and Sayan ranges of Mongolia & Tuva but also has roots in Tibetan chanting & early Gregorian chants as well as early Christian songs of antiquity, where audible sensitivity to the Universal series of notes from which all sounds originate was known, namely the harmonic series.
Peter Govan has been teaching Overtone singing Internationally for the last 13 years, inspiring participants with his sensitive yet humorous teaching style, as well as moving audiences deeply, the world over with his gentle and heart opening Overtone Singing Concerts.
