ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"matchless moments of true musical beauty" (Journal of the British Flute Society)

Quantz composed these exhilarating and moving works for the sole use of his most illustrious and dedicated pupil, King Frederick the Great of Prussia. Echoes of CPE Bach abound in many of the dramatic movements, whilst the lyrical ariosos display almost Handelian eloquence with touching simplicity. These sonatas are now published for the first time by Uppernote Publications.
