ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Roch Modrzejewski's "Gustoso" is a guitar recital containing music of all epochs - from renaissance to XXth century. Roch Modrzejewski decided to record rarely performed works by famous composers, as Fernando Sor, Napoleon Coste, Aleksander Tansman, as well as works by renaissance and baroque lute composers, that are barely known to guitarists, as Francesco Spinacino and Bernhard Joachim Hagen.

The interpretations of Francesco Spinacino Recercares and Sonata by Bernhard Joachim Hagen are the first guitar recordings of these compositions!

Artist's passion for interpreting music of different epochs and discovering new gems in a guitar repertoire led him to present a choice of works that are very valuable as compositions, yet not famous and at the same time rarely recorded.

"Gustoso" was chosen a "CD of the month" and awarded with the maximum note – 5 stars, by the renowned Italian guitar magazine “Seicorde”. Ermanno Brignolo writes there:

“The guitarist Modrzejewski shows an outstanding musical knowledge, and nothing, in his interpretations, lets us perceive his young age. It will be interesting to follow his career: it shall keep very interesting surprises”.

Other reviews of CD "Gustoso":

"Roch Modrzejewski is an impressive young artist who totally dominates his technique with the exclusive aim to express what cannot be expressed - except in Music! Furthermore he does it with great humility, a sign of true greatness. (...) This extraordinary, demanding, gifted and clever guitarist is well deserving of our attention. (...) His technique is not picturesque as it happens too often with that repertoire. The virtuosity is brilliant without intending to be so, simply and perfectly executed, and used only to drive the dramatic movement of the musical lines. It is a virtuosity full of dignity. (...) Congratulations to this very interesting young artist, Roch Modrzejewski, for his guitar playing of course but also for what he is doing with it in the field of the Art."

Danielle Ribouillault - musicologist, 2010

"Beautiful and intriguing album that will impress the listeners not only in Poland. This is international level!"

Zbigniew Dubiella, LaGuitarra

"Gustoso CD is a gem for "professional" listeners knowing guitar repertoire, as well as people that just like to listen to this kind of music in great quality performance."

Weronika Spyrka, PolskaMuza
