This beautifully eclectic Christian album also features stunning guest performances by renowned Latin-Jazz Songstress Amanda Martinez and Juno Nominated EMI Singer-Songwriter Mark Masri.
The musical ensemble on the album includes:
Kevin Laliberté, Guitarist
In 1999, Kevin Laliberté left a full time computer programming job to tour the world with EMI recording artist Jesse Cook. Together with Jesse Cook, he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, accompanying classical-crossover star Charlotte Church. Kevin has also produced 3 CDs of his own unique instrumental music, blending nouveau flamenco with bossa-nova and other world music flavours. In addition to his long-time collaboration with latin vocalist Amanda Martinez, and a hectic schedule with the flamenco-gypsy-jazz-fusion band The Sultans of String (2010 Juno Award Nominee and Canadian Folk Music Award Winner), Kevin continues to promote his own music to an expanding audience. Kevin’s latest release, “Sundance” was featured on iTunes Canada as an “Indie Spotlight” and has been hailed by Jesse Cook as “…his best work yet.”
Christabel Pinto, Pianist/Band Leader
Christabel received a B.A. in Music and B.Ed. She is the recipient of the Reginald Bedford Gold Medal Scholarship, the Margaret Oswald Memorial Scholarship for Accompaniment, and the Lee Hepner Award, among many other accolades. In 1998, Chendy wrote the music for the Oscar-Nominated Cuban documentary, Policlinico Miserable. In 1999, Chendy moved to Toronto, Canada, and was a key part of the Cuban talent explosion that transformed latin music in Canada. Adapting to the variety of music styles in his new Canadian home, Chendy began playing jazz with Jane Bunnet (Grammy and Juno nominee), Alexis Baro (National Jazz Award Winner), the Hilario Duran Big Band and Trio (Juno Award Nominee and Winner), and also performed with rock and alternative artists such as Alex Cuba and the legendary group The Parachute Club. He has spent the last 4 years on world tours with Canada's internationally acclaimed Flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook. When not on tour, Chendy performs regularly with artists such as Paquito de Rivera, Jose Luis “Changuito” Quintana, Amanda Martinez (2009 Latin Jazz Nominee of the year), and The Sultans of String (2010 Juno Award Nominee and Canadian Folk Music Award Winner). ROSANNA RIVERSO'S BIOGRAPHY
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Rosanna Riverso has graced the stage from the time she was seven years old, beginning with piano recitals and as a chorister with the Hamilton Children's Choir. After years of classical music study, Rosanna dove into the world of songwriting and began experimenting with different genres of music. Her public performances have garnered the young songstress a growing popularity, especially within Italian communities, as a large part of her repertoire along with many of her self‐penned songs are in Italian, reflecting her love of the romantic language and connection with her cultural roots. Rosanna has also begun to gain a number of spiritual music fans with the release of her newest sacred album "Let There Be Peace".
Rosanna's songwriting ability and vocal talents are extremely versatile, showcasing her eclectic musical background and training - easily incorporating elements of jazz, pop and ethnic music. In fact, Milwaukee Wisconsin's Italian Times newspaper said "Rosanna has a smile like Sophia Loren and a story‐telling ability like Frank Sinatra” (her classic beauty having also been referred to as “the Sophia Loren of our time”). Her original jazz song "No More" was recently nominated for Best Jazz Recording at the 2007 Ontario Independent Music Awards. Some of her other notable achievements and memorable experiences include: her performance with Sony Music recording artists “The Priests” at their 2009 Toronto concert; her 1st prize win at the 2006 CHIN Song Festival for her rendition of the classical aria "Nessun Dorma"; performing at Jimmy Kimmel’s 2008 San Gennaro Festival in Hollywood, California, hosting TLN TV’s 5-part series tribute on Luciano Pavarotti, opening for the 2008 Canadian Film Centre Gala; performing at a benefit honouring Academy Award winner Michael Douglas; and opening for legendary crooner, Al Martino.
The achievement Rosanna is most proud of, however, is as founder and chair of Harmony for Hope, a benefit dinner and concert that took place in March 2007 to raise funds for the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton. Rosanna felt compelled to do her part after experiencing first‐hand her mother's courageous battle with the disease. After a year of diligent planning and hard work, Rosanna's Harmony for Hope was impressive, raising close to $60,000 for the cancer hospital, an unprecedented accomplishment for a first‐time independent fundraising event.
Rosanna is currently moving in a new direction musically, one that combines her first love, classical music, with more popular elements and integrating various cultural instruments and rhythms. Her musical talents, along with her charming spirit and fierce determination, are leading this young singer along the path to becoming the industry’s next singing sensation. The success she has already achieved in a short time speaks volumes about what lies ahead for this brown-eyed beauty. It won't be long before Rosanna Riverso becomes a household name.
