Album Notes
"The brand new release from Scottie Miller features ten original tracks recorded live at Famous Daves in Minneapolis in May 09'. There is not one weak cut on this recording. With influences of Dr. John, Allman Brothers, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Elivis Costello and Rufus Wainright, this is Scottie Miller's most valuable work to date.

The Scottie Miller Band features a long-time 10 year collaboration of musicians; Mark O'Day (drums), John Iden (bass), Brian "Zoot" Simonds (Saxophone), Scotty Sansby (percussion) and Joe Cruz (guitar, mandolin and dobro). Some of the "twin-cities" best musicians come together again for a very memorable night of music.

The CD is paced very well, starting on a 'Minneapolis funk note with "Good Day", then slides in to an uplifting shuffle "I'm In Love With You". Then, an Allman-esque "Don't Try To Tell Me" (rocks you to the bone with energy), to the dangerously spooky and acclaimed "East St Louis". Continuing on with "Give It All Away", a beautifully written "world-beat" piece that speaks of giving of yourself to help others and how "somebody's always got it worse than you". "Don't Ever Let Me Go" actually utilizes Rhodes electric piano, and sounds like Taj Mahal is hanging with Jerry Douglas of Alison Krauss. "Just A Dream" is a haunting tune with latin/jazz stylings that reeks of Elvis Costello or Joe Jackson with some very colorful-lyrical imagery. "We Ain't Done Yet" talks about the lack of family farming and small farms in this country. All this, recorded live...NO OVERDUBS...the real deal. Just when you're ready to "replay" the disc, track 10 starts. A sober and dark solo piece by Miller, with his grand piano and vocal right in your face; "Bring It Down" sings of the despairs of addiction and the hope that faith can bring.
A beautifully designed set of music, intertwined with an excited, yet humble crowd at one of the twin-cites premier live venues. Highly recommended!"
