Jelly Jukebox
The Jellydots expand the palette of musical elements that are considered "Kid-Friendly". They know that kids can appreciate more "adult" rhythms, such as funk, hip hop, and reggae and that minor key elements can make a more vivid emotional picture. The Jellydots understand that kids will listen to details. Details will take root in their curiosity and grow. This album provides a lot for their imagination to chew on, from the lyrics to the nuances of the recording.

Jelly Jukebox is a great next step for the Jellydots. It seems to have grown with the kids it spoke to in "Hey You Kids!". The album sounds terrific and works great as a whole, each song fits together exceptionally well. It has a emotional arc similar to "Hey You Kids", starts off strong and exciting, explores various flavors, concludes with heartfelt sentiments. Unlike "Hey You Kids" there are fewer obvious catchy singalong moments. Instead it relies on the strength of its funky fun mood - a joy to immerse yourself in.

Some of my favorites: "Adventure Quest!" is just awesome. It had me hooked immediately. It deserves the exclamation point in its title. "Be Like Water" sounds like excerpts from the Tao Te Ching - profound deep thoughts easily conveyed. "Books!" has an early hip hop feel to it - "B to the double O K to the S" is genius. It also earns its exclamation point.

My wife and I just had our first child, and we're glad that artists such as the Jellydots are out there making music that we will be able to enjoy with her as she grows up.

Great tunes for whole family
What a great CD, the different styles of music really keep you into it and I cant imagine getting tired of it like so much of the music released these days.
I LOVE it!!!!

Right on the Play Money
Heck ya! It's SO hard to find imaginative, lyrically interesting and musically stimulating tunes that parents can groove to with their kids. The Jellydots newest album, "Jelly Jukebox", covers all that and more! Doug Snyder shares his kid-friendly, melodious vision so effortlessly, so vividly, that when you listen it feels like a journey to an unique, musical treehouse full of funk. AND. . . how does Doug know that we also wait for packages and talk to spiders?! Now, that's insight!

Kindie Cool
The Jellydots’ newest release, "Jelly Jukebox", is a laid-back reggae romp through a kid’s life with occasional detours into R&B and rock, with insightful details kids will love, but always with a great groove and a gentle message about life. Overall the feel of this album is fairly chill and mellow with great grooves and inspiring messages, gentle humor, and fun effects delivered with a true indie feel for real kids and families.
The eleven tracks range from looking for adventure for the day ("Adventure Quest"), to wanting to "Rock Out" with a PB&J and kazoos, from the hipness of "Books" to taking a Buddhist attitude in conversations with the "Spiders Under My House". The messages in this album celebrate the simple things in life ("O-Bounty") and a hometown ("My Town"); and talk about finding your own level and flow in life with floaty and flowy vocals ("Be Like Water") and acknowledging the source of us all (All of Us).
While the songs are easy and gentle, the effect isn’t saccharine or anesthetic, but simple and loving concepts delivered in style that doesn't pander to kids' supposed taste, but includes them in the conversation. Grown-ups and kids alike will bop and groove to this one, although in a very mellow way.
Jelly Jukebox is a great addition to the burgeoning Kindie music archive of every hip parent and kid.
