Album Notes
Bassist Albey Balgochian, plays a visionary style of bass.
"…he’s all over the music like a man with the most vibrant lust for life”
Nic Jones – All About Jazz
Like a great many improvisational artists, his extensive background in blues, r&b, funk, reggae, and world beat have a profound influence on his sound. Part of the downtown music scene since the 1970's, his public profile has escalated since joining with Cecil Taylor (Trio, AHA2:3, and ”Orchestra Humane” big band 2004-2006).

One of the bassists playing the New York City experimental out scene, Balgochian's avant-garde funk style of bass is breaking down the doors of compartmentalization.

Albey Balgochian’s Rhythmism “All My Relations”

“…free and inspired from the high flying opening piece …things quiet down on

Journey-ing, which builds in density and intensity until it explodes once more

- whoa! Inward begins with a sunny Latin groove on just bass and percussion,

then Sabir enters on a lush, warm toned tenor, which is a nice change of pace

for Sabir…focused and inspired from the beginning to the end.”
BLG - Downtown Music Gallery

Sabir Mateen /saxes
“…a jazz luminary in New York City’s improvised music underground…like a

lizard on a wall, finding new cavities that glisten with gems, new harmonic

zones to bask in” Hi-Fi News & Record Review
Jackson Krall /drums
"…one of the greatest unsung drummers in Jazz … plays so hard and so powerfully, yet is absolutely capable of the finest subtleties at any volume or multiple tempo" Jazz Now
Dennis Warren /percussion
“…for years has been pushing his brand of high energy jazz”
SOS Jazz - Mark Corroto
