ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sensual ear caressing may become a new category at CDBaby. These albums proves it. If you love haunting themes, and beautiful instrumentation, then this is the way to go for you. Flutes that seem to cry over the wind, Flamenco guitar that bridges gaps in time, and a collection of sounds from natural and the supernatural. The Abysis Project is from Holland, where Independent Music and Thought are a way of life. There are journeys here into the Middle East, riding on what feels like the ever-changing seas of sand that switch to Jazzy themes that float into light, airy passages on flamenco guitar, and back again. I am sure you will love this as much as I do. This is a true winner. (J.W.Sterneberg, Hollywood film news network). ************************************************"Legend" I?m sorry to see that Devapath doesn't currently have any of his cds on MP3.com. I haven't seen a page for him since MP3.com re-opened. Though I'm encouraged by the fact that he does have a page on this site. Hopefully we'll see some of his stuff up here again soon. Anyhow he does really beautiful work. His music was part of my inspiration for picking up flamenco guitar. Now that I have become proficient his technical excellence and authentic background are apparent. I corresponded with him via email a while back too. All said he's a pretty cool guy to boot. Aside from the strictly Spanish stuff his New Age work and Indian-influenced music is fabulous. He is also VERY well complimented by the many other artists he records with. (Gotta love that flute.) The end result is simply wonderful and very innovative music. Take your pick: from the exotic Indian music of Sufi Sound to more convention western vocal folk music of Zurich, or anything between, it's all good! There is a haunting quality to his playing that your ear latches on to. I regard his music as high caliber and consider him to be amongst the top performers in his genre. Unlike many other similar New Age/flamenco artists he brings a lot of variety to his music.-Not every song sounds the same! Too bad he is not better known. Though it is my hope he's still making music and that it will become available again soon!**************** Musical project developed by musician Devapath who started to get involved in the music when he learned how to play guitar at the age of 11. Devapath was strongly influenced by flamenco music and decided to take lessons in Spain to improve his style. Later the talented guitarist traveled to India to extend his musical skills, meeting many musicians from all over the world, who inspired Devapath with a different perspective. The result of those experiences were reflected on Abysis' albums The Universe Will Never End, Sufi Sound, and the Spanish-titled Montar el Viento. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide.
