When HP Laborde finishes his pet project, it may be the mother of all music videos. And the music video of all mothers.
Laborde, the leader of the Huntington Beach-based band A Choired Taste, has embarked on a project to create a DVD tribute to his mom, who died April 10, 2010. He hopes to have the video available by Mother's Day. And as Mother's Day gifts go, this one is elaborate to say the least.
The song, "To Mom," runs about four minutes, but the list of contributors sounds almost as hefty as the team on Britney Spears' latest album. In addition to the eight members of A Choired Taste, the track features ...."
...The Towne Carolers choir, piano and strings by Ron Levy, who also produced and arranged the song, Wayne Wayne, his daughter, Sarah, both on flute. The exciting Latin rhythms of Eric Duarte on percussion give the second half of the song an ecstatic feeling of joy and excitement. You can feel the celebration!
Videography is by a crew from Images in Motion, video post-production by Andrew Gutierrez at the Greg Lalazarian Studios in Hollywood, and a team of engineers including Franz Pusch and Jerry Adamowicz. Video manufacturing/assembly is by Frank Blaha at Reliable Media Services in Santa Ana.
The song starts as a melancholy look at the life of mothers but soon explodes with the joyous celebration of Motherhood as a gift to the world. As the motto on the album reads, "To all the moms in the world who bring us together with love". "To Mom" leaves you with a breathless, happy feeling and a need to see your Mom!
