In 2007, Dalton picked up his guitar and moved south in search of America’s musical roots. “Being in Nashville has been a great opportunity to soak up the timeworn southern sounds and study the architects of rock, blues, country and soul music. There is such a rich musical history here.” says Dalton. He put his studies to work on his 2009 debut solo record, SELF-LOATHING BLUES. Recorded at Nashville’s famed Blackbird Studio, the record follows Dalton’s many musical muses. “How many ways can one describe the music of Boston native Adam Dalton?” wrote Chuck Dauphin of Nashville Music News. “It’s a little Country, a little Folk, a little Jazz, and a little Blues – but, it’s also a whole lotta good.”
Dalton regularly tours in and around Nashville, TN with his roots rock ensemble the B-Sides. In concert, they perform a varied set of originals interspersed with tasteful covers ranging anywhere from the Stones to Steely Dan. As at home at your local coffee shop as he is turning it up at your favorite dive bar, Dalton switches between guitar, keyboard and harmonica to fit the mood. “I’d always wanted a band that could cover all the musical bases, be it a subdued folk ballad or a dirty funk number; the B-Sides can do that!” says Dalton. With Kazuri Arai on keyboards, Austin Lauritsen on drums and Dean Marold on bass the B-Sides are truly a force to be reckoned with!
In September of 2012, the B-Sides recorded the two part blues romp “Eye On The Prize” to 2" tape at Nashville’s all analog Fry Pharmacy Recorders. The song is set to be released on January 15th, 2013 kicking off a yearlong series of singles.
