In January 2007, Adam Merrin released his first solo EP entitled HAVE ONE (available on iTunes and other digital music sites). In 2009, he released his first full-length album called HAVE ANOTHER ONE.
Adam’s songs have been featured on GREY'S ANATOMY, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE BIG C, BONES, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS, KYLE XY, GREEK, THE L.A. COMPLEX, REAPER, NEWPORT HARBOR, CRACKED, and in the film THE HAUNTING HOUR.
In 2011, Merrin's song, "Still Alright" won "Best Song in a Television show" for "Necessary Roughness" at the HMMA's.
Adam is also the keyboardist for the Los Angeles rock band, The 88. He produced, mixed, and engineered the band's 2003 debut CD, KIND OF LIGHT, and won an LA WEEKLY award for “Best Pop/Rock Band” that same year. KIND OF LIGHT was also featured as RADIO AND RECORDS “Album of the Week” and The 88 became a staple on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, a clearinghouse for rising indie rock outfits.
The band has released six full length albums, 2 EP's, and have been playing practically nonstop with tour dates throughout the United States, England and Canada.
The 88 were the backing band for the Ray Davies Fall 2011 US Tour. They also opened the shows then joined him to play Kinks songs during his encore during the 2010-2012 tour. They've also played with Smashing Pumpkins, B52's, Elliott Smith, Frank Black, Guster, Flaming Lips, Matt Costa, and more.
Today the group’s TV resume includes segments on CONAN, LOPEZ TONIGHT, THE JIMMY KIMMEL SHOW, THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON, LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON, LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY, LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY, and appeared as themselves in a performance on the sitcom HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.
The 88’s ongoing licensing streak has netted over 50 music placements in film, television and advertising since their debut release in 2003. This has included films, YOU ME AND DUPREE, FAILURE TO LAUNCH, IRA & ABBY, and popular television shows such as THE OC, GREY'S ANATOMY, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, ONE TREE HILL, GOSSIP GIRL, WEEDS, LAGUNA BEACH, and more.
Currently, The 88 continue to see their film and television presence rise to the top of the heap, with music featured in the Universal film THE LORAX, as well as their song, "At Least It Was Here," serving as the theme song to the NBC comedy COMMUNITY. In 2011, the band added a new credit to their resume: scoring a movie. For the Lionsgate release FRIENDS WITH KIDS, the band co-scored the Jennifer Westfeldt film, while also contributing three original songs.
In 2014, Merrin produced Heavy Metal Anthem 's debut EP. Their song, "Say Tonight" was featured on NBC's, ABOUT A BOY. Adam's production credits also include Laura Jane Scott. One of the songs they recorded together, The Librarian, was featured on ABC's, CASTLE.
Adam has also recorded piano with Ray Davies, Matt Costa, Rusty Anderson, 311, and plans to continue playing with The 88 as well as recording new material for his solo project.
Currently, Merrin is the new keyboardist for The Three O'Clock. Since their reforming in 2013, they have played at Coachella, Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, Fillmore in San Francisco, Henry Fonda, Troubadour, and a live television performance on CONAN.
