Alan's 4th CD, Moonlight Everywhere, is his best yet. All 16 tracks are original and the songs range from the opening rocker, No Sitting Down, to the beautiful ballad, In The End. Early reviews rate Moonlight Everywhere his best album so far. It's a mix of pop, dance and instrumentals with Alan playing all the instruments and singing all the vocals. This new CD clearly showcases Alan as a songwriter to watch out for.
Here's what Alan says in the CD liner notes:
"There is a big difference between this album and my three previous ones....I wrote every song on this CD. Until now, I have always included a few cover versions from other artists mixed in with my own stuff but, for the first time ever, I've recorded a whole album of my own music."
"It normally takes me about a year to write, record, mix and master a CD," says Alan. "I have a full-time job so I only get into my studio at weekends and over holidays. I'm really pleased with the new album. It's got the tightest production and best mixing of all the stuff I've recorded so far. Throughout the making of this CD I was very fussy about the tracking, the arrangements and the vocals and I think it comes across in the music". He adds, "I'm hoping some of these songs attract the attention of established recording artists or music publishers."
There's another first on this new album - it was mastered by Jon Astley in London, England. Jon's clients include Pete Townsend, The Who, George Harrison, Tears For Fears and Led Zeppelin. Visit Jon's website to learn more: www.closetotheedge.biz
Alan is Canadian but was born in London, England. Like a million other teenagers, he started playing acoustic guitar and singing Beatles songs when he was sixteen. He began writing songs around the same time and he has now written more than 300.
He started performing at solo gigs with just an acoustic guitar, then was a member of a folk trio for many years tackling 3-part harmonies on Eagles, Poco and Simon & Garfunkel songs. After taking a break to focus on his business career, and a young family, he played lead guitar and sang in a rock and roll gig band called "Platinum" for seven years. Platinum was in high demand for hotel dances, company events and weddings.
For more than 30 years, Alan has written and recorded music, starting on the kitchen table with a cheap condensor microphone and a portable cassette tape player. Over the years he has steadily upgraded his home studio equipment and he now records everything digitally on a MacPro using Logic 9 software. He plays acoustic and electric guitars, piano and keyboards but he rarely performs as he prefers to write and produce music. He writes in a wide variety of styles including pop, dance and instrumental (both dance club and theme music) and he is happy to "write to order" for any artist or production company looking for original, well-written songs or themes.
