"The true incarnation of Brazilian musical soul" is how Villa-Lobos defined the music of Ernesto Nazareth (1863-1934). A master in his own art, Nazareth developed a unique way to write highly pianistic works using the language of choro, Brazil's main instrumental genre. His polkas, Brazilian tangos and waltzes are cherished by musicians all over the world for his sagacious melodies, intricate rhythms, and rich musical texture.
These piano solo recordings were made between 2007 and 2012 by Nazareth expert Alexandre Dias, who has been researching his works and discography since 1999. Alexandre was the first to review the sheet music of his complete works and to collect his complete discography of over 2,000 recordings (both now available at the website www.ernestonazareth150anos.com.br, produced by Instituto Moreira Salles and coordinated by Dias).
This 5 volume release commemorates Nazareth's 150th birth anniversary in 2013. All the tracks comprehend rare Nazareth masterpieces in their original piano solo version, many of which recorded for the first time. Please contact the artist for more information about Ernesto Nazareth. Enjoy the music!
