Moving With Music CD’s Vols. 1-3
"Brilliant piano technique coupled with masterful composing skill come together in the most original, yet traditionally satisfying, collection for ballet class I've come across this year. Humorous, proper, she does it all in three packed discs running two-and-a-half hours."
Review by Linda Dowdell - Dance Magazine Recommends (Discography) 1 February 2007
"Your third CD is really extraordinary; interesting, pleasant, full of energy, or calm and in any event just amazing all you get out of your instrument! - Since Oct. I use your CD "3" for my ballet class on Saturday mornings - students just love it!
Brigitte Matteuzz International dance teacher and choreographer - Lucerne Switzerland 2006
“A rare find! This music not only contributes to the appropriate dynamic for the exercise, but also has an energy of its own. This CD provides a wide variety of styles and tempi suitable for dancers for the young beginner to the seasoned professional.”
-Janet Bradley Bridgman (Dance teacher – Australian Dance Theatre) 2000
“Vibrant and inspirational, Amanda Lee Falkenberg’s gift for accompanying classical ballet makes her class music a necessary item in every ballet studio.”
-Christine Walsh AM (Former principal artist with The Australian Ballet Company) 2000
“I am a teacher from the Gold Coast who just LOVES your music and was wondering if you were going to treat us to a volume 3? I encourage you to as you are so gifted and your work is so inspirational. I love it and best of all my students all love working with it too! I hope that one day you may..if so, I am your first customer!!! I wish you much success and congratulate you on your talent and the inspiration you share with us all”
- Debbie Landel A.R.A.D. London 2002 (Gold Coast - Australia)
“The CD's arrived last Friday, and they're wonderful. My daughter, whose ballet teacher suggested I get the 2nd Volume (which she uses in my daughter's ballet class), was thrilled and showed me the exercises she does to various selections. And today we listened to all of volume one. You are very talented to have composed such varied and wonderful music. Thank you.”
- Janice Warren (NT - Australia) March 2004
“I have enjoyed using Amanda’s CDs in my Ballet classes. The pieces are colourful in their composition and I have found they make delightful minature ‘story dances’ for the younger students. The varying time signatures and tempi are most suitable in giving the older dance student an introduction to music understanding and appreciation”
- Anna Veretennikova A.R.A.D, Solo seal, London (Vic - Australia) 2002
“The CDs arrived today…My wife has listened to everything and its exactly what she has been looking for. We are always on the look out for more music so please let us know if you do any more recordings.
- Craig and Shirley Mullen (South Africa) 2001
“Hi, I came across the essential music website whilst searching for some ballet music. Heard the excerpts and found them to be thoroughly enjoyable and original. I help my friend accompany her ballet classes at times and think everybody will enjoy the music you composed.”
- Shin min (Singapore) 2002
“Her own Compositions have a very good sense of rhythm and awareness of the individual needs of the dance in all the different areas of the class – adage, allegro, pirouettes etc. thereby improving the performance, execution and technique of the dancer.”
Carole Hall F.I.S.T. Senior Examiner –National Cecchetti Society of Australia. 2000
“Just a little note to thank you for your wonderful CD’s. Congratulation’s on a wonderful, inspirational addition to my “music library.” Looking forward to Volume 3!”

Biography of Amanda Lee Falkenberg
Self taught ballet, theatre and film composer, Falkenberg’s journey into the composing arena began with roots based in piano performance. Her love of the instrument was made evident at the age of two when she began playing and continued with tuition from Australia’s leading piano instructors into her late 20’s. During those years she was awarded the prestigious Don Maynard Award for being the most outstanding musician in South Australia and the Northern Territory and was awarded a full scholarship to complete honors in Piano Performance with Lucinda Collins at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide in 1998.
Born in South Australia, Falkenberg began composing when she was accompanying ballet classes during her university years. It was at that time in her life she explored her innate creative abilities and decided to embark on a project of composing, performing and recording 3 CDs of over 120 original piano compositions specifically crafted to accompany the training ballerina. In 2000, the Moving with Music series was born. All three CDs are distributed world-wide by The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden London, New York’s Roper Records and The Sydney Opera House.
In 2000, a unique opportunity became available when she was appointed full time pianist with the prestigious Australian Ballet Company. This elite and innovative dance environment dramatically increased her desire to devote her energies solely to composition. She withdrew from the company in 2002 to follow her ultimate passion.
In 2003, she was invited to write her first 30-minute full orchestral contemporary ballet Edge of the World. This exciting commission was performed under the baton of Antony Walker with Leigh Warren and Dancers and herself at the piano. The work received glowing reviews in the local and national press.
Since then, Falkenberg has widened her compositional scope and in addition to the ballet genre, she has been commissioned to write for theatre (original chamber score for the play “The Maids” 2004), chamber, film and TV(Dubai UAE) with performances by Chop Logic Theatre, The Tank Stream Quartet, Flinders Quartet and Fiorini Trio (UK).
Falkenberg has recently completed a piano concerto and she continues her love of composing, with her husband, in Dubai. In keeping with the visual movement and choreographic theme, Falkenberg is writing orchestral music to accompany a documentary series on natural history filmed in Dubai that will showcases the exotic diversity of the culture and seductive landscapes of the mesmerizing Middle East.
