ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Allen Hinds was raised in Alabama, exposed to blues early, trained in jazz, toured the world with top R&B and jazz artists. He's been on staff at Musician's Inst. In Hollywood for 20 years.
Obvious influences include Robben Ford, Alan Holdsworth, but has developed a style purely his own. Harmonically rich without being too academic, soulful without sounding cliché'.
Great tones as well as choice of notes. Melodies are the upmost importance in his songs and solos.
A nice and pleasant change from the all too prevalent "shredders" or "new blues sensations".

Very nice and versatile guitarist album
I got known Allen Hinds when searching for cool guitar effects at the Xotic website www.prosoundcommunications.com/english/xotic/effects/
Here you can see nice videos of Allen including new versions with some of the songs on the CD.
The songs are very different, no bad track and show the enormous talent of Allen. I put him in my favourite guitar player line with Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Lee Ritenour, Eric Johnson .....
He has a very organic sound and feel, very nice overdriven sounds - it´s a must for every serious guitar player.
For those: even check out his instructional video on DVD (links on Allen´s site)

This music is ridiculous:):):)
Allen's first CD, Fact of the Matter, is without a doubt one of the rare finds in todays music that really touches me. It's not very often that I purchase a CD and find every single song musically valuable. My personal favorite is Onramp. His palate of sounds on this song brings a smile to my face everytime I listen to it. When fellow musicians and I discuss our recent acquisitions, this is the CD I tell them they are a fool for not adding to their collection. Allen needs to put out more solo albums - his work with other artists is valuable, his solo work is priceless!

Top notch player - Very nice stuff for guitar players
Allen Hinds is a great player. No doubt about that. His tone reminds me of Larry Carlton or Robben Ford, and the Holdsworth influence is definitely there in some of the scales used. Nice slide work to boot. Great touch and control.

My only complaint is the inconsistency of recording quality. It seemed as though the tunes were possibly recorded over a period of time with different "settings" or possibly equipment. The start of "Fact of the Matter" seemed truncated, like it was slightly clipped. And there are odd pops and crackles here and there - sort of like listening to vinyl. Perhaps my biggest wish would have been for "Enough is Enough" to have developed into something more! At only 30 seconds, it was just getting started! Listen to the clip above, and try to imagine that tune only going another 13 seconds???? All in all, minor complaints - great player, and a good addition to any guitarist's collection. (My first attempt at posting this bombed, so I hope two don't show up!)
