Album Notes
Allison writes songs about love, life, and the spaces in-between. Sometimes simple, occasionally complex, and usually reflective and contemplative in nature and sound. Her deep quest for connection to something outside of herself is phonetically displayed as she challenges contemporary ideas of rhythm and song structure. She is often likened to Joni Mitchell and Eva Cassidy. Her voice moves emotionally and gracefully from tearful vulnerability to volcanic expulsions of passion and longing. Quirky and earnest.

"Her lyrics are accessible and heartfelt, daring to voice the obvious in life."
- The Chronogram; Woodstock, NY

"A tensely wound spring of kinetic energy." - ENCORE Magazine; NYC

"Knockout Allison Dennis makes portraying the comic human condition look easy."
- The Charlotte Observer

It's sort of lo-fi and awesome. I love that she produced it herself.
OPEN is great. It's still mostly just Allison and her guitar like "No Place Like Home", but this one has harmonica and bass and drums on some of the songs. I hope she uses more instruments for the next one. It's an easy CD to just have as background, but if you really listen to the words, the girl is deep!

The CD is good, but she needs to record a live CD!!!!
Allison sings like an angel...OPEN is contemplative and quiet even when it's trying to rock. I've seen Allison play, she's fierce.
