Med City tells the story of a travelling musician who decides, after a long journey, to settle down in a Mediterranean city, (Naples in this case) because he`s overwhelmed by its beauty, sounds, colours, the people and also the magic..
Professional musician since 1991, Al-Maranca is a bass player, singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter.
Born in the South of Italy, in 2000 he moved to London Uk , where he spent ten very important years for his apprenticeship, playing all sorts of genre and getting known in the UK capital`s music scene.
In 2004 he formed the band Round Coloured Note and after four years he released the debut album “From Poison to Medicine”
At the end of 2010 Al-Maranca moved back to his home land in South Italy, near the Volcano Vesuvius, in order to carry on his research about the mediterranean cultural identity and to reconnect with his roots, keeping on shaping his rather original fusion of Med, Middle East and West african music, funk, blues, rock and all those influences he got both through living in the London hub and travelling across the Mediterranean Sea, from Morocco to Turkey.
He`s now working as composer, performing around Italy and Europe, also helping and producing local artists from his area.
Al-Maranca has worked with many international names:
producer Ken Nelson (Coldplay, Badly Drawn Boy, Paolo Nutini) folk singer Polly Paulsma (One Little Indian Records), Damien Draghici (rumenian popstar), Jo Sa Trinxa (Sony) Alex Pascal (BBC) Davide Mantovani, Zoe Rahman and many other artists and musicians of all kinds and race.
Al-Maranca is moving on towards his second album, due within the beginning of 2013.
"Med City" is the first single from the new album.
