Their best yet!
I reviewed Al-Namrood before and some said I may have been too kind. Whatever… like it or not, Al-Namrood are as worthy of your notice as any of their Western brethren. None of the western Black Metal bands have to worry about being arrested for their music… So yes, I can forgive some minor inconsistencies in Al-Namrood’s performance and production.
On “Jaish Al-Namrood”, Al-Namrood reworks five songs from their discography. “Atba'a Al-Namrood” and “Naqoos Al Khatar” originally appeared on their debut “Atba'a Al-Namrood” and “A'hd Al Jahiliyah” and “Entisarat Al Ashawes” on "Astfhl Al Tha'r". I am not sure if “Ajsad Dhar'een” ever had been released before…
This version of “Atba'a Al-Namrood” is one of the best songs from Al-Namrood, ever! It has a perfect blend of traditional Middle Eastern melodies and Black Metal.
“A'hd Al Jahiliyah” is a slower, plodding beast and in my opinion much better than the original version.
“Ajsad Dhar'een” has some great oriental guitar work and fits perfectly on this release.
“Entisarat Al Ashawes” another plodding song with a good mix of Middle Eastern music that adds to the heaviness and eeriness of the song.
“Naqoos Al Khatar” sounds very dense and catching. I like it a lot.
This is a great album to get acquainted with Al-Namrood and if you are a fan, “Jaish Al-Namrood” will make a great addition to your collection.
