Album Notes
It was a year in the making, but the wait was worth it! Heart of Texas Records is now excited to release the new Amber Digby album “The World Your Living In.”

The fourteen song album features Amber’s fine vocals as well as some of Nashville's legendary "A-team" including Lloyd Green, Pig Robbins, and Pete Wade as well as our regular players including Jim Loessberg, Dicky Overbey, Justin Trevino and Randy Lindley.

Produced by Justin Trevino, Randy Lindley & Amber Digby, “The World Your Living In” has already been called “the best Amber Digby album to date” by renowned reviewers.

The project also includes a duet with Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill on “The One I Can’t Live Without.” Randy Lindley also offers his vocals on the George Jones/Tammy Wynette classic “We Loved It Away.”

The World You're Living In / Amber Digby and Midnight Sflyer

Amber Digby's Honky-Tonk Time Machine
A lot of people – including me – love “old”, traditional country. We support Sirius XM, and programs like “Willie’s Roadhouse” and “Outlaw Country”. We have country albums and CD’s going back to the 50’s and 60’s, and we happily trot off to see our favorites whenever they appear in concert, or make a new record. Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Gene Watson, Loretta Lynn and Connie Smith (just to name a few) are all alive and kickin’, ya know…

But there are also new artists who love old country, and use it as their artistic templates. They make new country albums, they use the best of the great pickers, and they keep the honky-tonk spirit alive and well. The best of these is Texas troubador Amber Digby and her band Midnight Flyer. Her new album “The World You’re Living In” is one of best albums of the month, and a balm for country fans.

Amber sings like an angel, and writes wonderful country songs – this has been true since her first album “Music from the Honky-Tonks” in 2003. Along the way, she has earned the respect of Texas and Nashville musicians alike, and she is. Among her co-writers on “World” are Vince Gill and Bill Anderson; her band includes pianist Hargus “Pig” Robbins and Dicky Overbey, the king of pedal steel. Her husband and musical partner Randy Lindley provides rhythm guitar, and his lovely harmony vocal on “We Loved it Away” is one of the album’s many highlights.

The moods are as varied as a night in a good bar with a good band and a big dance floor can be. There are heartfelt ballads like “She’d Already Won Your Heart” – one of my favorite tracks – and “One More Thing I Wish I’d Said”. If you’re in the mood for some quick two-steppin’, a song like “Saturday Night” will get your feet moving for sure. The long-standing tradition of the country duet is upheld wonderfully in Amber’s collaboration with Vince Gill, “The One I Can’t Live Without.”

I wanted to call this review “The Best Country Album of 1963”!! It’s brand new, but as great as the best of Tammy Wynette and Tanya Tucker. This is a kind of music that the worlds of NashVegas, “country” radio and media are trying their damndest to push into a corner. But folks like Amber Digby are pushing back with some great stuff, and their label Heart of Texas Records should be recognized as a national treasure,

If you’ve just discovered The Time Jumpers and like that sound, it’s high time you met Amber Digby. You will not be disappointed!!

Fantastic Star Studded Album
Just a quick look at the players on this album (Lloyd Green, Pig Robbins, Pete Wade, Jim Loessberg, Dicky Overbey, Justin Trevino and Randy Lindley) and you know you going to hear some classy country music. Add the ultra smooth vocals of Ms Digby and the mix is complete!
If you enjoyed any of Amber's previous albums you're going to enjoy this one! There's not a dud track here but if I had to pick some favourites I'd go with the very danceable "Saturday Night" and the very funky "If it Ain't Love (Let's Leave It Alone)". Lots will probably be said of the duet with Vince Gill and whilst it's a fine track I prefer the cover of the Jones/Wynette duet "We Love It Away" with hubby Randy Lindley. And don't miss the 'special bonus' instrumental "Little Darlin'" that closes off the album, featuring the marvellous playing of the great Lloyd Green.
Excellent album, highlu recommended!

THE ROAD TO WHERE?
Backed by a stellar set of musos this is Amber's best album to date by the proverbial country mile. There's nothing revolutionary about the staple fare of typical Texas honky-tonk tunes per se, the difference is that this goes against the grain of what NashVegas has been churning out for decades since traditional steel and fiddle led stuff fell foul of the major labels in favour of the so called "contemporary sound". They say image is everything in marketing artists. I'm not so sure. Amber's vocals resonate as much today as her peers did when real country was cool. And that's my only worry. This music isn't cool today. Despair not amigos- What goes around comes around and when it turns full circle Amber Digby will be at the forefront of that revolution, mark my words. This is an album that certainly ranks as one of the very best of its type and with that old timer Darrell McCall in the family its easy to see why Amber is following the same path. I hope it leads to international stardom for her.

THE ROAD TO WHERE?-- THE SEQUEL
OOPS!! I forgot to remind you guys that she faces stiff competition in the shape of who I regard as the finest female Country Honky Tonker on the planet------the one and only BECKY HOBBS!. Time for Amber to turn Green?
