Amber Sweeney's latest EP The Starting Line, features a variety of sounds and soul. It's on this EP that you can really get a feel for who Amber is and what she's capable of.
In early 2012 she teamed up with local engineer Gabe Harvison and began production on this re-introduction of Amber as a solo artist. She was fortunate to work with and feature some more incredible local talent on several of the songs.
"I asked my buddy Jean-Pierre Garau to come in and lay down some keys and organ on a couple songs. I particularly fell in love with what he did on Finding Your Way. When I wrote this song it was much more harsh and desperate, after talking through a change of direction, I asked JP to add some more soul to the part. The result was beautiful and moving and I am so proud of this song, and so grateful to have such a talent like Jean-Pierre's on it!" - Amber Sweeney
Other local artists include Chris Chesbro on electric guitar and Andrew Mofford & Brennan Clark on drums.
Amber is passionate about supporting her local community, which is why she jumped at the chance to work with another local gem, Dana J. White with Specialized Mastering.
"It had been an incredibly long time since I sat in a mastering session, but I couldn't resist missing out on this piece on this project. It's always amazing to be able to connect with the people you're working with and look them in the face and experience who they are, and not just what they do. Dana is truly an artist in his craft and it was so much fun getting to spend the day with him and his wife and just enjoy music and art!"
This EP will take you on a ride for sure. In order to hear it best, you should listen with your heart.
