Americanistan creates music for dancing, listening, or setting a mood inspired by the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean. Several styles of bellydance music can be found on their five CDs.
Ethnic instruments (zurna, mijwiz, kanoon, dvoyanka) and unique homemade instruments (yuemba, "caveman" bagpipes), give their tribal belly dance music (Tribalation! CD) a raw and compelling sound. Lively rhythms on drums and percussion instruments from Egypt, Turkey, Africa and India will grab you by the hips and make you shake it, belly dancer or not!
On the "Live at Luna" CD, traditional instruments such as the kanun, oud and ney, and dynamic vocals in several languages are layered over the rhythms of the dumbek, tambourine, and frame drum. Folk songs, taxim (improvisation) and classic belly dance tunes are featured on Live at Luna.(Coming soon.)
Americanistan frequently appears live at venues around the Pacific Northwest. Check out our website for upcoming shows.
