Andrei Krylov
This album is a compilation of folk and classical guitar variations to Russian Gypsy songs and romances.
Russian Gypsy music according to traditions of 18-19-20th century russian gypsy guitar style.
Andrei Krylov learned those songs from his childhood from his grandmother and performed them in many concert halls in Russia. Solo and together with singers such as Galina Baranova, Taisia Kalinchenko, Irina Skorik and others.
It was recorded in St.Petersburg Russia and Lac Ste-Marie, Quebec.
In this album included variations to famous Russian Gypsy (Roma) folk songs, such as Mardyandya, Murka, Djelem and many others.

My grandparents and parents sang those songs a lot.
Some stories about those songs: "Fried chicken" is an old song about somebody who live in St. Petersburg , Russia, and have no any rights at all.
It was created around 1890-1900.
Police hunts for guy ("fried chicken"), ask to show passport and he can not, because he have no passport.. He told to police different stories but they do not believe and he is deep trouble..This song was not only about roma/gypsies in Russia, but about jews, buddists, anybody who have no official papers. It was a song with a lot of humour.
Like a sad joke...
It was popular in beginnig of the century and it was performed by all type of musicians tzigane, jewish, russian etc.,

Wonderful - Don't miss Track 16
Wonderful, evocative music masterfully performed. Relaxing and refreshing at the same time. If you like Flamenco, you will like this album. Be sure to sample Track 16, a great acoustic version of "Those Were the Days."
